The instruction manual for this device consists of general and specific instructions,
both must be carefully read and understood before use. Attention! This leaflet
shows the specific instruction only. Attention! For installation, use and mainte-
nance of the rigid anchor line supports, refer to the relevant operating instructions
provided by the manufacturer.
SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS SKC EVO+.
This note contains the necessary information for a correct use of the following
product/s: fall arrest device for rigid anchor line.
1) FIELD OF APPLICATION.
This product is a personal protective device (P.P.E.) against falls from height; it is
compliant with the Regulation (EU) 2016/425. EN 353-1:2014+A1:2017 -
Guided type fall arrester including a rigid anchor line. Attention! For this product
the indications of the standard EN 365 must be respected (general instructions
/ paragraph 2.5). Attention! For this product a periodic thorough inspection is
compulsory (general instructions / paragraph 8.)
2) NOTIFIED BODIES.
Refer to the legend in the general instructions (paragraph 9 / table D): N1. The
notified body that has carried out the EU examination is reported in figure 3.3.
3) NOMENCLATURE (Fig. 4).
A) Body. B) Locking lever. C) Locking cam. D) Reel. E) Oneway system. F) Carabi-
ner for webbing connection. G) Webbing. H) Terminal connector.
4) MARKING.
Numbers/letters without caption: refer to the legend in the general instructions
(paragraph 5).
4.1 - General (Fig. 3). 1; 2; 6; 7; 8; 9; 11; 12; 19; 30) Warning indicating
that the device can only be used with a compatible line; 31) Warning indicating
that the device and the anchor line are designed for use by a single user of a
weight between 50 kg (excluding equipment) and 140 kg (including equipment);
32) Warning stating that the webbing can be used only as a component of the
Skc Evo+ device.
4.2 - Traceability (Fig. 3). T1; T2; T3; T8; T9; T10.
5) CHECKS.
Further to the checks listed below, comply with what indicated in the general
instructions (paragraph 3). Before each use, verify that: the lifeline is intact and in
adequate conditions; there are no lacerations of the seams due to the arrest of a
fall; the protective sheath of the webbing is present and in a condition as to allow
the inspection; the carabiner inserted into the hole of the locking cam is able to
rotate without any external impediments; the oneway system is able to move freely
(see section 7.2). Attention! Do not use neither the rigid anchor line nor the fall
arrester device for carrying out rescue manoeuvres, in that case an appropriate
additional system must be employed. During each use: always verify the correct
placement of the cable inside the device; pay attention using iced or dirty cables
and any foreign body which might prevent the good working of the locking cam
on the cable.
6) WARNINGS.
Any work at height requires the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as a
protection against the risk of a fall. Before accessing the work station, all the risk
factors must be evaluated (environmental, concomitant, consequential). Attention!
The user should always be below the anchor point.
7) INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE.
This device is designed to be used with the Claw line made with a stainless steel
(SS) or galvanized (GS) cable.
7.1 - Connecting to the anchor line. Press the locking lever (Fig. 5.2) and while
keeping it pressed down as necessary, rotate the locking cam until it is fully
opened (Fig. 5.3). Place the device on the cable making sure it is in the correct
direction (Fig. 5.4), and then release the locking cam and the locking lever so
as to prevent the cable from coming out of the device (Fig. 5.5). To remove the
device from the cable hold the locking lever and open the locking cam as indi-
cated above (Fig. 6). Attention! The connection and the disconnection from the
anchor line should be carried out from a safe position or with the use of a separate
individual system against falls.
7.2 - Oneway safety system. The device is equipped with the oneway safety
system which when the device is turned upside down, prevents the locking cam
from opening, thus reducing the risk of the incorrect insertion on the cable. Risk of
death! The device only works in one direction. If it is installed incorrectly or in the
wrong direction, the risk of death is present (Fig. 5.8).
7.3 - Function test. Slide the fall arrest device dragging it via the connector to ver-
ify it slides freely in both directions (Fig. 5.6). Then pull the device quickly down-
wards, to verify that the fall arrester will immediately block on the cable (Fig. 5.7).
7.4 - Connection to the harness (Fig. 7). Connect the terminal connector to the
sternal attachment point of an EN 361 full body harness. Before use, adjust the
harness so that it is perfectly snug to the user's body and it must not be loose. At-
tention! The weight of the user, including tools and equipment, must not be greater
than the maximum rated loads marked on the device. Attention! The weight of

the user, excluding tools and equipment, must not be less than the rated loads
marked on the device. Attention! In the event where the harness loosens during
the ascent or the descent, it will have to be adjusted again from a safe position.
Attention! It is absolutely forbidden to lengthen or shorten the integrated webbing,
by adding or removing a connector for example. It is equally forbidden to replace
the webbing provided by the manufacture with another model, even if certified.
7.5 - Use. The device enables the ascent or descent of a rigid anchor line in
complete safety (Fig. 8.1) and without the users intervention. In case of a fall, the
system instantly blocks. During the ascent pay attention to not solicit the cable with
a horizontal load (Fig. 8.2). Attention! The engagement of the release function of
the handling of the device during the ascent of the descent could prevent the safe
operation of the braking mechanism and should only be performed from a safe
position where there is no risk of falling. Attention! Do not use the device for po-
sitioning at work (Fig. 8.3), but if required, use an addition separate system (Fig.
8.4). Attention! This device is designed for going beyond intermediate passable
anchors points without any intervention by the operator (Fig. 9).
7.6 - Fall clearance distance (Fig. 10). The fall clearance distance is the minimum
distance needed under the feet of the operator in order to avoid the collision
with the structure, the ground, or other obstacles, in case of a fall from a height.
Attention! Before and during each use you must keep into account the indicated
fall clearance distance value. Attention! Should the user be below the indicated
fall clearance distance height, it might happen that he's not protected from falls:
therefore it is suggested to adopt supplementary measures during the climbing
or the descent. Attention! The indicated value has been calculated through the
standard fall tests using a rigid mass of 140 kg.
8) SYMBOLS.
Refer to the legend in the general instructions (paragraph 15): F1; F3.
9) REPLACEMENT PARTS.
This product is compatible only with the replacement parts listed below: web-
bing with integrated connector* (Ref. No. WERK-0658), webbing* (Ref. No.
WERK-0659). Attention! The replacement parts marked with an asterisk (*) do
not constitute PPE by themselves. Attention! Before installing a replacement part,
read and understand the instructions for use of the equipment on which it is going
to be installed. Attention! Before using the equipment, verify that the replacement
part has been correctly installed.
