6. Start engine of service vehicle and run at high idle.
Crank engine of vehicle with discharged battery. If
engine will not start after 15 seconds of cranking, stop
cranking to avoid overheating starting motor. Allow
starting motor to cool for at least two minutes before
attempting to start engine again.
7. Disconnect plug of booster cable assembly from
connector harness assembly plug mounted on service
vehicle. Use handle on booster cable assembly plug to
avoid straining cables.
8. Disconnect negative cable clamp from chassis or
engine block ground.
9. Disconnect positive cable clamp from positive battery
terminal.

Service
Service of a battery booster cable requires extreme care
and knowledge. Service should be performed only by a
qualified service technician.
• Always check cables for damage before use.
• Have damaged cables properly repaired or replaced by an
Authorized Service Center.
• Maintain cables. Keep cables dry, clean and free of oil and
grease.
