WARNING: If the inverter runs at a very high temperature or shuts down in use, it is possible that
the device connected is not compatible with the inverter.
• When a device is first connected to the inverter, monitor the device and inverter for the first
5min, then every 30min for the following 2hrs.
IMPORTANT: Always take care to select a compatible RCD for use with an inverter. External circuit
External circuit breakers that are incompatible may not trip in the event of a fault. Some RCD units will
not work with this inverter due to the modified sine wave output and lack of neutral/earth bonding.
This does not indicate a fault with the RCD or the inverter. Users unsure of the suitability of their RCD
should consult the manufacturer.
Inductive load device notes
Many inductive load devices are compatible with this inverter but may function slightly differently.
• Some inductive load devices may consume slightly more current or produce more noise with
modified sine wave AC compared to pure sine wave AC
• If an inductive load device does not function, connecting a resistive load device at the same time
may allow it to operate
Audio-visual device notes
The modified sine wave of the inverter can cause interference with radio and video devices. It may
still be possible to use the device with the inverter with the use of appropriate shielding. Consult the
'Troubleshooting' section of this manual or an audio-visual technician for more information.
Load and power
It may be necessary to measure the power used by the device for use with the inverter to check that it
is compatible with the inverter and 12V power source or to calculate runtime.
• Use a plug-in power monitor plugged into a domestic AC mains socket to find out the true power
consumption of an AC device. Ideally use a power monitor with a peak current facility that will
indicate the required starting current of a device.
• If checking the AC output from an inverter with a multimeter without true RMS, the multimeter
will give a low voltage reading. This is normal and a result of how the multimeter reads and
calculates voltage from different types of waves.
The following methods of calculation may be useful when checking power requirements:

WARNING: Do not ground any AC device to a vehicle chassis. To do so may cause the body of
the vehicle to be energised with potentially dangerous mains current in the event of a fault.
Connecting a mains device
IMPORTANT: Do not connect loads greater than the rated maximum continuous power output of the
inverter (see 'Specification').
1. Before connecting any appliance to the inverter, switch the ON/OFF Switch (3) to the ON position.
2. Wait for the Power Indicator Light (1) to illuminate. This may take a few seconds.
3. Connect your AC device to the 230V Universal Mains Socket (5).
4. When you have finished powering a mains device with the inverter, turn the ON/OFF Switch
to OFF.
Note: The inverter consumes power when turned on. See 'Specification' for the inverter power
consumption without load. It is possible for the inverter to drain a battery and prevent starting
of a vehicle if left on, even without a load.
Connecting a device via USB
The USB Socket (4) provides a maximum of 2.1A current. If you have a device that can be charged via
USB or mains, using the USB connection is recommended as it will charge more efficiently.
Protection features
The inverter is fitted with features that may operate during use for safety and to minimise damage to
the device. They are designed as failsafe measures rather than as features to rely on in general use.
When a protection feature operates, it indicates that there is a fault with the set-up. Do not use the
inverter again until the fault has been resolved.
Input over voltage shutdown
The inverter will switch OFF if the input DC voltage reaches or exceeds 16V. Where the inverter is
installed in a vehicle, an input over voltage shutdown may indicate a poorly regulated electrical
system.
Input low voltage shutdown
The inverter will switch OFF if the DC voltage is approximately 10V. This prevents damage to devices
due to insufficient AC voltage. Where the inverter is installed in a vehicle, 10V may not be sufficient

to start the engine. The inverter will audibly indicate low voltage from approximately 10 to 11V before
shutting down when the voltage is between 10V and 9V.
Output overload shutdown
The inverter will switch off if the current requirements of the AC device or devices connected are too
high for the inverter, or if the peak starting requirements are within the inverter capacity, but last
beyond the peak duration allowed (see 'Specification').
Output short circuit protection
If there is a short circuit in the AC connections the inverter will shut off. The internal fuses of the
inverter may be blown and will need replacement at an authorised service centre.
Overheating shutdown
The inverter will shut off if the internal temperature of the inverter reaches or exceeds 55°C. This
may be due to inadequate ventilation, incorrect installation, poor device compatibility, high ambient
temperature or the inverter being used at maximum capacity for extended periods.
Note: The inverter's built-in fan is temperature-controlled to reduce current demands so the operation
speed may vary.
Maintenance
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any inspection,
maintenance or cleaning.
WARNING: Do not open the inverter. This device contains no user-serviceable parts, and some
components may retain a dangerous high charge level even when disconnected from power.
Replacing the fuse
IMPORTANT: Ensure the issue that caused the fuse to blow has been resolved before replacing it.
1. To replace the 32V Fuse (17), first ensure the inverter is switched OFF and disconnected. Check that
the Power Indicator Light (1) is not lit and wait at least 10 seconds for the power to fully dissipate.
2. Switch OFF and disconnect any 230V device from the inverter.
3. Unscrew the Fuse Cover Screws (10).
4. Remove the Fuse Cover (9) and blown fuse.
5. Replace with a fuse bearing the same rated values.
6. Replace the Fuse Cover and screws.
Cleaning
• Keep your inverter clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly and
shorten the machine's service life. Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush or dry cloth. If
available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes.
• Do not use alcohol, petrol or strong cleaning agents.
• Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts.
Storage
• Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children
