Priming the Pump
OPERATION
Priming the Pump
IMPORTANT: The pump should not be primed until phys-
ical installation is complete.
1. Remove priming plug.
2. Pour clean water into the priming port.
3. Fill the pump casing and suction line with water.
4. Rotate motor shaft to let air in casing escape.
5. Refill at the priming port and replace priming plug.
Starting the Pump
IMPORTANT: Never run pump dry. Dry operation may
damage the water-lubricated seal inside the pump.
1. If installing a 3-Phase motor, check pump rotation by turning on power for a second.
• Shaft rotation is shown on the pump case.
• If direction is wrong, interchange any two of three wires either at the motor or starter.
2. Vent all air from the suction line prior to starting the pump:
• Close all system outlets
• Slightly crack one system outlet to allow for excess air to bleed from the plumbing system.
3. Start the pump.
• If the pump does not deliver water within seconds, stop the motor and prime pump again.
• Several starting attempts may be necessary to expel all air from the pump and suction lines.
4. Open system outlets slowly and let pump operate until water runs clear.
IMPORTANT: A motor operating under normal conditions maintains its rated performance, assuming a
clean, dry motor with proper ventilation. If after a reasonable time the water continues to run sandy or
dirty, contact your contractor for further instructions.
