4. Inspecting the lower guard for proper operation
Before each use of the tool, test the lower guard (see
Fig. 15) to assure that it is in good condition and that it
moves smoothly.
Never use the tool unless the lower guard operates
properly and it is in good mechanical condition.
5. Inspection of terminals (tool and battery or AC/DC
adapter)
Check to make sure that swarf and dust have not
collected on the terminals.
On occasion check prior, during and after operation.
CAUTION
Remove any swarf or dust which may have
collected on the terminals.
Failure to do so may result in malfunction.
6. Disposal of the exhausted battery
WARNING
Do not dispose of the exhausted battery. The
battery must explode if it is incinerated. The
product that you have purchased contains a
rechargeable battery. The battery is recyclable.
At the end of it's useful life, under various state
and local laws, it may be illegal to dispose of this
battery into the municipal waste stream. Check
with your local solid waste offi cials for details
in your area for recycling options or proper
disposal.
7. Storage
After operation of the tool has been completed, check
that the following has been performed:
(1) Trigger switch is in OFF position,
(2) Pull out the battery or AC/DC adapter from the tool.
When the tool is not in use, storing in a place below 104°F
(40°C) and out of the reach of children.
NOTE
Storing lithium-ion batteries
Make sure the lithium-ion batteries have been fully
charged before storing them.
Prolonged storage (3 months or more) of batteries with
a low charge may result in performance deterioration,
signifi cantly reducing battery usage time or rendering
the batteries incapable of holding a charge.
However, signifi cantly reduced battery usage time
may be recovered by repeatedly charging and using
the batteries two to fi ve times.
If the battery usage time is extremely short despite
repeated charging and use, consider the batteries
dead and purchase new batteries.
8. Lubrication
Lubricate the following sliding surfaces once a month
to keep the power tool in good operating condition for
a long time (see Fig. 2 and Fig. 3). Use of machine oil
is recommended.
Oil supply points:
○ Rotary portion of hinge
○ Rotary portion of vise assembly
○ Rotary portion of holder (A)
9. Cleaning
Duct
Air gun
Clean the machine, duct and lower guard by blowing
with dry air from an air gun or other tool.
Periodically remove chips, dust and other waste
material from the surface of the power tool, especially
from the inside of the lower guard with a damp, soapy
cloth. To avoid a malfunction of the motor, protect it
from contact with oil or water.
If the laser line becomes invisible due to chips and
the like adhered onto the window of the laser marker's
light-emitting section, wipe and clean the window with
a dry cloth or a soft cloth moistened with soapy water,
etc.
