For example, for changing the colors of all connected scanners with one fader, only call the item
'Synchronizing groups' under 'Window'. Then click with the right mouse button on the new, empty window
and select 'New synchronizing group'. A subwindow with the designation 'Synchron new' is created. After a
double-click with the left mouse button on the lettering 'Synchron new' enter a suitable name for the new
synchronous group. Then click on the empty, white field with the left mouse button. Afterwards enter the
numbers of the faders (channels) via the keyboard which are to be controlled synchronously. Each input of a
number has to be terminated with the ENTER button. With the fader on the right of the channel list the
channels entered can now be controlled synchronously. The faders in the main desk and in the groups 1-10
can still be adjusted independently of each other. Only if the fader of the synchronous group is actuated
again, the corresponding cannels and faders are synchronized. For changing a channel in the list, it is marked
and deleted by pressing the 'DEL' button once. Afterwards enter the new channel number, followed by
'ENTER'. For completely deleting an entry into the list, the 'DEL' button has to be pressed twice in
succession. The following entries into the list advance correspondingly. To insert a channel, press the 'Insrt'
button at the desired place of the list. The desired channel is entered into the new field. The F -button fulfils
the functions of a flash button. To delete a synchronous group, the 'Ctrl' button has to be kept pressed. At the
same time click with the mouse on the corresponding synchronous group. By a mouse click on the cross in
the upper bar of the group window the synchronous group will disappear.
To memorize the synchronous groups, the pull-down menu is called with the right mouse button in the
window ‚Synchronizing groups'. After clicking on ‚Save Synchronizing groups' a file dialogue window is
opened in which the name of the file to be memorized has to be entered. The files of the synchronous groups
have the file extension ‚syc'.
Loading a file of a synchronous group is likewise made in the pull-down menu. Under the item
'Synchronizing groups tile horizontally' all existing synchronous groups are arranged in 4 columns side by
side and one below the other.
NEW: The fader functions of the loaded libraries can now also be used in the synchronous groups. The first
channel respectively of a list in the synchronous group defines the fader function for all channels of the list.
2.4 The group windows and the device windows
Ten group windows were integrated in the DMX control programs. In each group window there is the
possibility to combine up to 20 faders independently in the sequence. For instance, a group with five four -
channel scanners or four five-channel dimmer packs can be built up. In addition, each group has a trackball
area. If you click with the right mouse button on the window, a pull-down menu is opened in which the
following functions can be adjusted:
- Group Description: in this place the name or the description of the group is requested.
- Channel Assignment: in the input field "channel assignment" the desired channels are entered separated by
a comma. After the confirmation with "OK", the faders (up to a number of 20) are created in the entered
order next to the trackball area with the corresponding flash buttons and the value labels.
- Trackball Assignment: in the group desk as well as in the main desk, the trackball can be assigned to two
faders. However, only faders can be selected which also exist in the group.
- Background Color: for better distinction of the groups with their trackball fields, there is the possiblity of
changing the background color of the trackball field. The color is selected in the "Windows -colors-dialogue-
window".
- Fader Assignment to Scene: With this function it is very simple to assign all faders of the group to build a
scene (Assign all Faders) or delete the assignments of all faders of the group (Delete Assignments).
- Create Scene: This menu point has been implemented to make it more convenient to the user to create a
scene without switching between the main mixer and the group windows.
