8.3 Menu item 2: "BLC"
(Backlight compensation)
Via this menu item the backlight compensation (BLC) can be
switched on ("ON ") and off ("OFF"). It serves to brighten up
objects in the centre picture area which are to be monitored in the
backlight and which would be presented too dark and too poor in
contrast by the brightness control. With the backlight compensati-
on switched on, the extent of the backlight compensation can be
adjusted (i.e. the weighting of the centre picture area in relation to
the entire picture when adjusting the brightness). For this purpose
press the key "SET" (12) with the adjustment "BLC = ON " select-
ed and adjust the weighting "Weight" between "0" (poor) and "4"
(high) with the keys

8.4 Menu item 3: "Lens"
(Adjustments for the lens used)
Via this menu item adjustments for the lens used can be made. If
the menu item has been selected, it is possible to adjust the option
"Manual" or "Video" resp. "DC " [depending on the position of the
switch "LENS" (6)] with the keys

A value between "0" and "30" can be selected with the keys

be placed in the bar graph below. As an active video signal control
(AGC) makes the adjustment more difficult, it should be deactivat-
ed before, if necessary (menu item: "Gain" = "OFF").
Press the key "SET" (12) to return to the main menu.
8.5 Menu item 4: "Shutter"
(Electronic shutter)
Via this menu item different adjustments for the electronic shutter
can be made. The electronic shutter determines more or less the
"exposure time" for the CCD image sensor. If the menu item has
been selected, the following modes are available:
"OFF"
The shutter time is not shortened but corresponds to the dura-

tion of a field (

"FLKless"
(flickerless). The shutter time is
selected if the picture is flickering due to the room illumination.
"Manual "
A fixed shutter time can be specified by the user. This is e. g.
useful for sharp reproduction of moving objects requiring a
shorter shutter time. Press the key "SET" (12).
