Double Insulation

For maximum user safety, our devices are built to meet valid European
regulations (EN standards). Devices with double insulation are marked
with an international symbol ‑ a double square. Such devices must not
be grounded and can be powered by a cable with only two cores. The
devices have interference elimination in accordance with EN 55014.
Installation of Detachable Handgrip
and Depth Stop
Attention! Risk of injury by electric current. Unplug the de‑
vice from the power socket before making any adjustments
(such as mounting or removing hand grips, making adjust‑
ments, replacing drill bits, etc.)!
Use the device only with the installed detachable handgrip (10). Fit the
detachable handgrip onto the fastening neck (9) and firmly tighten the
fastening sleeve (10a) using the rotary grip.
To change the position of the detachable handgrip, loosen the sleeve
(10a) using the rotary grip, adjust the placement of the handgrip and
tighten it again.
To drill a hole of a specific depth or for drilling identical holes in a series,
use the depth stop rod (11).
Press the depth stop adjustment button on the detachable hand‑
grip (10b) and insert the hexagonal depth stop rod into the hexagonal
hole so that one of its two notched sides is facing upwards. Then, slide
out the depth stop to the desired length and secure it by releasing the
adjustment button on the detachable handgrip. The minimum length
by which the depth stop can be adjusted is 2 mm.

Putting the Device into Operation

Connect only to a single‑phase AC power grid with the same voltage as
is specified on the device's label. The device can even be connected to
a socket without safety earthing connection, since the device is a class
II appliance.
Check that the type of plug corresponds to the type of socket.
Turning On and Off
The device is turned on by pressing the switch (1), and turned off once
the switch is released.
Speed Regulation
The switch (1) can be used for smooth speed regulation. Pressing the
switch gently will initiate slow drill bit rotation. The rotation speed in‑
creases the harder you press the switch.
Function Switch (3)
The function switch (3) has four positions:
Drilling, Impact Drilling and Cutting
For drilling or screwing:
turn the function switch (3) to the symbol.
For impact drilling:
turn the function switch (3) to the
For cutting:
turn the function switch (3) to the symbol.
To adjust tool position for cutting:
turn the function switch (3) to the
Switch functions only when the device is idle. Simply turn the switch (3)
to the desired position.
The gearbox of the hammer will shift into the selected mode after press‑
ing the switch (1), or once the hammer is turned on.
Warning: When impact drilling, do not change the direction of ro‑
tation to the left. Doing so may cause damage to the drill bit if it
was not specifically designed for this purpose. It is necessary to do
so only if the drill bit is stuck and must be taken out of the hole.

symbol.
For impact drilling, use only the recommended drill bits with the
SDS‑Plus shank.
This electro‑pneumatic hammer cannot be used directly with impact
drill bits with cylindrical shank when combined with the QS‑HAMMER
(SDS‑plus) fastening head. Such drill bits are designed only for quick
release chucks (see QS‑DRILL fastening head) or key‑type drill chucks.
Switching Rotation Direction
Use the rotation direction switch (2) only when the device is idle.
Right rotation: push the switch button marked with the
all the way to the left.
Left rotation: push the switch button marked with the
all the way to the right.
System for Quick Head Change
Quick‑System
Mounting and Removing the QS‑HAMMER
Fastening Head (7a)
Pull the securing sleeve  (5) towards the body of the device and push
the hub (6) of the QS‑HAMMER fastening head into the spindle (4), then
release the securing sleeve. You may hear a loud click once the fastening
head fits in place.
Before removing the fastening head, press the securing sleeve  (5) to‑
wards the body of the device and then remove the fastening head.
Mounting and Removing the QS‑DRILL
Fastening Head (7b)
When mounting or removing the QS‑DRILL fastening head, proceed in
the same way as in the case of the QS‑HAMMER head.
Inserting and Removing a Tool
Tools are mounted into the fastening head (7a; 7b) without the use of
a key.
Inserting a Tool with SDS‑Plus Shank into
QS‑HAMMER Fastening Head
Attention! Risk of injury by electric current. Unplug the de‑
vice from the power socket before making any adjustments
(such as mounting or removing hand grips, making adjust‑
ments, replacing drill bits, etc.)!
Make sure the tool shank (16) is clean and lubricate it with a lubricant
designed for this purpose.
When inserting an SDS‑Plus tool, first turn the lock (8) of the QS‑HAM‑
MER fastening head in the direction of the
loud click. Then, insert the tool shank (16) into the fastening hole and
slowly rotate the tool until it slots into the guiding grooves. Lock the tool
in by turning the lock (8) of the QS‑HAMMER fastening head in the direc‑
tion of the
symbol until you hear a loud click. When removing a tool
from the fastening head, follow the method above.
CVS Anti‑vibration Grip
The electro‑pneumatic rotary hammer EKK  31‑QS is equipped with
an ergonomic composite grip (12) that is fitted with an anti‑vibration
joint at the attachment point to the gearbox. This ensures vibrations are
absorbed and prevents them from having any negative impact on the
operator's arm.
Tips for Use
Do not drill in places where there could be any hidden wiring or gas
or water pipes. Always inspect the place you intend to drill into with a
metal detector first.
Use only perfectly sharp drill bits when drilling into metal.
When drilling into stone or concrete, only use drill bits with a cemented
carbide edge designed for this purpose.
Always adjust the rotation speed according to the material you are drill‑
ing into and the diameter of the drill bit used.
Impact Drilling
Use protective glasses and ear protection.
Do not press too hard onto the drilling hammer. It will not lead to any
significant increase in its effectiveness.
Always work with the detachable handgrip (10) mounted.
Before turning the device on, check that the function switch (3) is set
to the desired mode.
