4 - COMPONENTS

4.1 - Capacitor replacement (Fig. 20)
Disconnect the power supply to the unit before carrying
out any work on the unit.
Open the cover of the control box.
Disconnect the capacitor by withdrawing the flat spade
connectors from the back of the capacitor.
Reversing the above procedure, replace, secure and
connect the new capacitor.

4.2 - Electric heater replacement

If the electric heater develops a fault, the assembly must be
removed and replaced (Fig. 21).
Legend:
A: Holding clip
B: Spade connector
Disconnect the supply air duct(s).
If the air supply uses the oblong spigots, these must be
removed.
Disconnect the power supply spade connectors of the
heater that needs to be replaced.
Remove the two holding clips from the electric heater.
Re-install a new electric heater by reversing the above
procedure.

4.3 - Water flow control valves

As an option the 42CE unit can be equipped with two- or
four-way valves and thermo-electric actuators.
4.3.1 - Thermo-electric actuator (on/off)
The 230 V a.c. thermo-electric actuator is used with Carrier
numeric controllers and Carrier room thermostats.
NOTE: The thermo-electric actuator is delivered in the
normally closed position regardless of the two-way or
four-way valve body used (way A-AB closed in the case of
a four-way valve). To enable the system to be filled with
water, the water circuits to be equalised and the units to
be purged, the valves will have to be opened by sending a
command from the wall thermostats or from the BMS.
4.4 - Actuator replacement procedure
The actuators on both the chilled water and the hot water
valves can be replaced if either develops a fault.
Remove the cover of the control box or the Carrier
numeric controller.
Disconnect the actuator power supply cable.
Uncouple the faulty actuator. Reverse the removal
procedure described above when installing the replace-
ment motor.
WARNING: Ensure that the actuator is firmly screwed to
the valve body (maximum torque 15 N·m).

4.5 - Valve body replacement

Close the isolating valves on the manifolds.
Disconnect the flexible water pipes by loosening the
screw connectors.
Remove the valve actuators, taking care to identify
the cooling and heating valves.
Remove the two- or four-way water flow control valve
body.
Fit a new valve body to the coil (fit new gaskets).
Refit the valve actuators taking care to ensure that
they are correctly fixed to the valve body.
Reconnect the flexible water pipes by tightening the
screw connectors. Re-tighten all water connections and
ensure that all gaskets have been changed and
correctly fitted (torque: 15 N·m).
Open the isolating valves on the manifolds and purge
the air from the coil.
Check that there are no leaks and reconnect the
power to the unit.
WARNING: When replacing a valve always ensure that
the direction of flow through the valve is as shown by the
arrow on the valve body. If the direction of flow is wrong,
the valve will deteriorate rapidly.

4.6 - Air filter and access

4.6.1 - Description
The 42CE unit is equipped with a disposable filter with 85%
gravimetric efficiency (G3) in accordance with standard
EN 779. Filter medium fire rating M1, metallic wire frame.
4.6.2 - Air filter replacement
Air filters should be changed regularly. Filter life depends
on the rate at which the filter becomes clogged which
depends on the filter use.
If a clogged filter is not changed, its air pressure drop
increases, trapped dust particles may be given off to the air
supply and the general performance of the 42CE unit may
be degraded (as the air flow reduces).
Easy filter removal is possible either from the rear or from
below the unit (see chapter on unit installation).
