9. Check at the oil dipstick (7-1) that the oil level
reaches the "MAX" notch (7-3)
10. Screw the cap tight and wipe up any traces of
spilt oil
Servicing the spark plug

CAUTION!
Electric shock hazard!
Never test ignition sparks with the spark
plug removed.
The electrode gap of the spark plug (10-1) should
be 0.6 mm - 0.8 mm.
Never start the engine without a spark plug
1. Remove the spark plug using a socket wrench
(10-2)
2. Clean the electrodes with a metal brush and
remove any deposits of soot
3. Check the correct electrode gap (0.6 - 0.8
mm) (10-3) using a feeler gauge (10-4)
4. Insert the spark plug again and tighten using
a socket wrench
ADVICE
An incorrect spark plug can cause en-
gine damage.
Cleaning the engine
CAUTION!
Danger of fire!
Remove flammable objects from the ex-
haust and the cylinder area.
ADVICE
Do not spray the engine with water.
Clean using a brush or cloth.
Remove soiling from the engine at regular inter-
vals using a brush or cloth.
Clean the cooling openings
Clean the cooling system. To prevent overhea-
ting, possibly clean also the inner cooling ribs and
surfaces.
Cleaning the exhaust silencer
The exhaust silencer must be cleaned with the en-
gine cold.
1. Remove all wastes and residues of dirt which
could represent a fire risk from the exhaust
silencer and its cover using compressed air
2. Ensure that the cooling air openings (8-1) are
not clogged
3. Wipe down the plastic parts with a damp
sponge (8-2) and detergent
Maintenance schedule
Observe the operating hour or annual intervals,
whichever comes first. More frequent mainten-
ance is necessary when the appliance is used un-
der more severe operating conditions.
After the first 5 operating hours
Change oil
Change the engine oil every 25 operating
hours if the engine is operated under full load
or at high operating temperatures
Every 5 operating hours or daily before use
Check the oil level
Clean the exhaust silencer area and the ope-
rating elements
Inspect and clean the air filter
Clean the air filter more frequently if the ma-
chine is operated in a dusty environment
Every 50 operating hours or every 12 months
Change oil
Inspect exhaust silencer and spark trap
Every 12 months
Replace air filter
Inspect spark plug
Every 100 operating hours
Replace spark plug
Check fuel filter *
* Have carried out by a qualified workshop
Spare parts
Recommended spark plug:
QC12YC or RC12YC (Champion)
Spare part can be obtained from authorised dea-
lers or our Service department.
