Unauthorized modifications to the machine preclude
the liability of the manufacturer for any resultant
damage.
The cross-cutting system must not be built into a sta-
tionary table and must not be used as circular table
saw machine.

Residual risks

Residual risks may also arise owing
to the design of the machine relat-
ing to its intended purpose even if
the machine is used properly and in
compliance with all relevant safety
regulations; e.g.:
Touching the saw blade in the vicinity of the
starting aperture underneath the base plate.
Touching the part of the saw blade that pro-
trudes underneath the workpiece or guiding
assembly when cutting.
Touching the following rotating parts from the
side: saw blade, clamping flange and flange
screw.
Machine kicks back if the blade gets stuck in the
workpiece.
Breakage of the saw blade and risk of the blade
or pieces of the blade being hurled away.
Hearing can be impaired when working for long
periods without ear protectors.
Emission of wood dust: a health hazard when
working for long periods without dust extraction.

Safety instructions

Woodworking machines can be
dangerous when in use. You should
therefore always follow the safety
instructions set out in this chapter,
as well as the safety regulations
applicable in the country of use!
2.1
Safety instructions comply with EN 60745-2-5
2.1.1 Rules of conduct
Keep hands clear of the saw area and the saw
blade. Keep hold of the additional handle or the
motor casing with your second hand.
Do not reach below the workpiece.
Adjust the cutting depth to the workpiece thick-
ness.
Never hold the workpiece to be sawed in your
hands or over your leg. Secure the workpiece
on a stable support.
When executing any works where the cutting
tool could damage hidden power supply lines or
its own device cable, only hold the device at the
isolated grip areas.
When performing longitudinal cuts, always use
a limit stop or a straight edge guide.
Always use saw blades with the correct size and
a suitable bore (e.g. star-shaped or round).
Never use damaged or wrong saw blade wash-
ers or screws.
2.1.2 Avoidance of kickbacks
Hold the saw with both hands and position your
arms in a way which ensures that you are able
to withstand the kickback forces. Always stand
laterally to the saw blade, never position your-
self in one line with the saw blade.
If the saw blade is blocked or the sawing proc-
ess is interrupted for any other reason, release
the ON/OFF switch and keep the saw balanced
in the material until the saw blade stands abso-
lutely still. Never try to remove the saw from the
workpiece or pull it backwards as long as the
saw blade is still in motion or a kickback may
occur.
If you want to re-start a saw which is caught in
the workpiece, centre the saw blade in the saw
gap and ensure that the saw teeth do not stick in
the workpiece.
Support large panels to reduce the risk of a kick-
back as a result of a jamming saw blade.
Do not use any blunt or damaged saw blades.
Fasten the cutting depths and cutting angle
adjustments prior to starting sawing.
Use utmost caution when executing a "plunge
cut" in a hidden area, e.g. an existing wall.
2.1.3 Function of safety devices
Prior to each use, verify that the lower saw
guard closes properly. Do not use the saw if the
lower saw guard cannot be freely moved and
does not immediately close. Never clamp or tie
the lower saw guard when it is open.
Check the function of the spring for the lower
saw guard. Have the device maintained prior to
