• Undo simplex injection sprocket bolts and
align the 'arrow' timing mark on the sprocket
with holes in the pump flange/pump.
• Insert Injection Pump Locking Pin 3088-3 to
install the duplex chain tensioner, then
remove 3088-3 and tighten the simplex
injection pump sprocket bolts. Re-insert Pin
3088-3 ensuring it enters easily and
slides in and out smoothly.
• Fit Camshaft Setting Tool 3088-1 in the rear
slot of the camshaft. Insert the Sprocket
Attachment 3088-5 vertically, locating it in
the holes of the cam sprocket and bolt
Timing Fixture 3088-4 onto the cylinder
head.
• Using a 1/2" square drive reversible ratchet
(e.g. HAZET 916 S) on the 3088-5 apply
slight pressure anti-clockwise (against
engine rotation), and fix 3088-5 in this
position by turning the adjustment screw of
the Fixture 3088-4, by hand, until it meets
the 3088-5.
• Check that Pump Locking Pin 3088-3 can
be removed and installed smoothly. If not,
adjust pressure by carefully altering the
Timing Fixture 3088-4 adjustment screw
position.
• Tighten camshaft sprocket bolt to specified
torque.
CAUTION
Follow vehicle manufacturer's
specifications!
•
Install simplex chain tensioner.
Maintenance work on engines must be carried out only by
experienced mechanics. Always wear personal protective equipment.

When fitting the 3088-6 Tools the
'flats' must be maintained in a hori-
zontal plane. As they are not visible
of rotation. Ensure the spindles are held
horizontal as they may rotate as the cam-
shafts turn. As the ends of the spindles
engage the slots in the camshaft an audible
'click' will be heard as the springs activate
the spindles into the slots.
