FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THAT OF OTHERS
1. BEFORE USING YOUR
LAWNMOWER
Familiarise yourself with its
controls. Study carefully how it
works so that you can stop the
motor quickly.
- Clear the lawn of stones, wood,
scrap metal, wires, bones, plas-
tics, branches and other debris
that could be thrown up by the
lawnmower. Also remove any low
branches that could cause eye
injuries.
- Every time you mow, before
you begin, check the blade is in
good condition and tight, and
that the handlebar is securely
locked in place.
- Regularly check that the
flexible power cable is in good
condition. Only use it if it is in
good condition. Never use an
extension cable showing signs of
damage or ageing. Never entrust
the repair of an extension cable to
anyone other than a specialist.
2. FOR YOUR SAFETY AND
THAT OF OTHERS
- Your lawnmower must be
used in accordance with these
instructions.
- Never wear loose clothes when
mowing. Wear closed, sturdy
non-slip shoes. Also wear long
trousers. Do not use the lawn-
mower in your bare feet or when
wearing sandals. Wear ear pro-
tection.
- Adolescents under 16, as well
as people not familiar with the
lawnmower, must not use the
machine.
- Never entrust the lawnmower
to a person who has not read the
instruction booklet.
- This lawnmower is not intended
for use by people (including chil-
dren) whose physical, sensory or
64
mental abilities are diminished, or
by people with no experience or
knowledge, unless they are moni-
tored or have been given prior
instruction by a person respon-
sible for their safety, concerning
the use of the lawnmower. Chil-
dren must be watched to ensure
that they do not play with the
lawnmower.
- Do not use the machine if you
are tired or ill. Also avoid using it
if you have consumed alcohol or
taken medication.
- The user or operator is res-
ponsible for the safety of peo-
ple in the machine's work area.
Ensure that no-one could be
injured by stones or other items
that could be thrown up by the
lawnmower during its use. Keep
children away, and avoid using
the lawnmower when there are
people or animals in the close
vicinity.
- Never remove safety labels
and devices.
- The lawnmower must have its
grass bag or its safety shield/
deflector in place. Never use the
lawnmower if its protective devi-
ces are defective.
- Before removing the grass bag,
or changing the cutting height,
switch off the motor and wait for
it to stop.
- Never place your hand or foot
underneath the cutter housing.
Do not place your hand or foot
near the rotating and moving
parts. Keep away from the ejec-
tion opening.
- Avoid obstacles such as mole
hills, tree stumps, kerbs and
concrete which the blade can-
not cut and which risk dama-
ging the cutting system. After
colliding with such an object, or
if the machine begins to vibrate
abnormally, switch off the motor,
unplug the power cable and ins-
pect the lawnmower to see if it is
damaged. Have the lawnmower
repaired before restarting and
using it. Also look out for foreign
bodies while you are mowing.
- Only use the lawmower in full
daylight or with very good artifi-
cial lighting.
- As far as possible, avoid mowing
wet grass.
- Never run, but advance at a
slow, steady pace, especially on
a slope.
- Respect the minimum safe
distance given by the length of
the handlebar. When using the
lawnmower on a slope, be par-
ticularly careful, especially when
changing direction. Always mow
perpendicular to the slope, never
up and down. The mower must
not be used on slopes that are
too steep.
- If you have to pull the lawn-
mower towards you, do so with
great care.
- Do not mow too close to
banks, ditches, on loose ground
or anywhere where there is a risk
of overturning the mower.
- For all interventions on the
machine, switch off the motor.
- The motor start control is a hold-
to-run type safety device: it must
never be blocked.
- Avoid leaving the lawnmower
unattended. As soon as you have
finished mowing, unplug the power
cable and put the mower away.
- Whenever you are obliged to
leave the lawnmower unatten-
ded, and also if it must be lifted
or transported, switch off the
motor. As a precaution, unplug
the power cable.
