KEY CHANGE:
Hold the KEY button pressed and press PITCH + or PITCH – to change the key. The key can be increased up
to 1 octave above the normal key (2 octaves above the normal key when using the slide effect) and decreased
up to 5 octaves below the normal key. The display will display "H" if the key is higher than the normal key or
"L" if the key is lower.
15. AUTO START
This button provides 3 functions depending upon the way it is set.
INTERLOCK PLAY START:
If the AUTO START button is pressed during INTERLOCK, the slave side will automatically start when the
master side matches the beat of the slave side.
RELAY PLAY: This function will automatically start playing the slave side after completion of the track of the
master side. In continuous mode, the relay feature will allow the master to complete playing the full CD and
then switch to the slave side. In single mode the player will alternate after each track.
To activate the function, press the AUTO START button (without interlock function activated) on the slave side.
When the master has finished playing, it will pause, cue to the beginning of the next track and send a signal to
the slave side which will automatically start playing. The master will now become the slave.
The relay time of this feature can also be programmed by holding down the PROG button and pressing the
AUTO START button. Options will appear: (0) to relay immediately after the track, (1), (2), (3) or (4) seconds
added or reduced. By reducing time the tracks will cross over before the end of the track, creating an
automatic segue from master to slave side. This feature will also work in track sequence program mode.
However, if the sides are also in SINGLE mode the same number of tracks should be programmed. Play will
stop at the end of the last track.
FADER START:
This function will activate the CD player to work with most standard fader start compatible mixers. Follow the
directions for connecting the VDSCD5000 to your mixer. To activate the function, press the AUTO START
button and hold it for 2 seconds. The display will indicate fader start is active. Note that some mixer
manufactures have made their products incompatible with the industry standard and that this function may not
always work.
16. SPECIAL EFFECTS
To select an effect, press SELECT HOLD button until the desired effect is found. Hold down the button to put
the effect into hold mode or to select a second effect. The LED will light indicating the effect has been
anchored. To activate the effect, press the EFFECT ACTIVE button and rotate the wheel to the desired
parameter. The pitch bend function is deactivated for all effects (except reverse); use the pitch bend buttons
instead.
1. LIVE SCRATCH: Scratch effect during playing using the wheel.
LIVE SCRATCH HOLD: Effect like above except the music is paused when the wheel stops moving. It is
basically the same as powering off a turntable.
2. PHAZE: Creates an effect similar to the sound of an airplane taking off. Move the wheel to create the
effect. If the effect is anchored, the effect will stay at the current sound until it is released.
3. VERB: Adds reverb to the PHAZE effect creating a slightly different sound. The wheel works a similar way.
4. SLIDE: Smoothly changes the key of the music. In the display you will see the key indication change as the
wheel is moved. The wheel also works in a similar way.
5. CHOP: Works best when the beat tracker is properly aligned. This effect breaks up the music by turning the
volume on or off based upon the BPM of the beat tracker. The first activation of the effect plays the 1/8
½ note of every beat. The BPM display will indicate "8" which means one measure (4 beats) has been
broken into 8 parts. Rotation of the wheel to the left decreases the measure into 4, 2 and 1 part. At 1 part,
the music plays for 4 beats and then silences. Rotating to the right breaks up the music into 16, 32 and 64
parts, and then smaller increments creating another interesting effect. The CD player will remember the set
parameters when turning off the effect.
6. ECHO: This effect adds echo, also based upon the beat tracker. Moving the wheel to the right will increase
the amount of echo (64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2 and 1). Moving the the wheel to the left will create a negative or
preceding echo (-64, -32, -16, -8, -4, -2 and -1). At 1, the track will echo 1 full measure or 4 beats. The CD
player will remember the set parameters when turning off the effect. Note that a preceding echo requires
