Written Rdy (ready) on the display: indicates that the machine is in standby mode and is ready to weld
13. TROUBLESHOOTING
The most common problems that may be encountered and the relative solutions are listed below:
INDICATION
Turning off the machine
[display: off]
The display shows the writing THR
Yellow led is on
MALFUNCTIONS DURING WELDING
The wire does not move forward
when the wire-feed roller turns.
Wire feed is jerky or sporadic
No arc
The machine suddenly stops
operating after prolonged use.
Porous weld bead
Hot cracks
Low penetration
Low melting rate
Side incisions
Breaks
Too much spatter
CAUSE/S
Absence of voltage on the power supply
network
1) Overtemperature
2) Low water pressure
1) Dirt on the wire-guide tip.
2) Too much friction on the reel
3) Faulty torch
1) Faulty gas nozzle
2) Burning in the gas nozzle
3) Dirt on the throat of the wire-feed roller
4) Throat of the wire-feed roller worn
1) Bad contact between the ground clamp
and workpiece
2) Short circuit between the contact nozzle
and the gas guide tube
1) The machine has overheated due to excessive
use and the thermal protection has kicked in
1) No gas shield due to build-up in the gas
nozzle.
2) Angle distance of the torch not correct
3) Not enough gas
4) Wet pieces
5) Welding arc too long
1) Dirty workpieces
2) Welding with very high thermal input
3) Poor quality welding wire
4) Base materials with elevated quantities of
carbon, sulphur and other impurities.
1) Current too low
2) Irregular wire power supply
3) Too much divergence between the edges
4) Bevel too small
1) Brusque movements of the torch
2) Incorrect inductance value
3) Oxidized material
1) Welding speed too fast
1) Wrong type of wire
2) Poor quality workpieces
1) Current too high
2) Incorrect inductance value
3) Torch too angled
SOLUTION/ADVICE
Restore the supply voltage
1) Leave the machine to cool until the
warning message disappears.
Reduce the work cycle.
2) Check the water level or the closing
of the hydraulic circuit.
1) Blow with air; replace nozzle
2) Loosen
3) Check the wire-guide sheath
1) Replace
2) Replace
3) Clean
4) Replace
1) Tighten the clamp and check
2) Clean or replace the contact
nozzle and wire-guide nozzle.
1) Leave the machine to cool down
for at least 20-30 minutes
1) Remove any build-up
2) The distance between the torch and
the piece must be 5-10 mm; the
angle must not be less than 60° in
respect to the workpiece.
3) Increase the amount
4) Dry with a hot air pistol or
another similar instrument.
5) Shorten the arc
1) Clean
2) Reduce the welding current
3) Change the welding wire
1) Increase the current
2) See previous points
1) Move the torch continuously.
2) Change the inductance value
3) Clean
1) Reduce the welding speed
1) Change the type of wire
1) Reduce the current
2) Increase the inductance
3) Straighten the torch
