5.2 Cleaning inside the stove

Take the following precautions before perform-
ing any maintenance operation:
Make sure that the grill (Fig. 5.2a) is free from
any combustion residues that might otherwise
obstruct the free passage of air. Eliminate any
residues and clean the stove with a brush (not
supplied), sweeping the combustion residues
into the ash drawer. Be careful: there may still be
embers.
Pull the ash drawer out from the base and
vacuum up any ash deposited in the compart-
ments underneath (A - Fig. 5.2b).
Vacuum the front and rear holes of the combus-
tive air distributor to prevent any accumulation
of ash (B - Fig. 5.2b).
Place the grill on a suitable surface
with great care.
Using an ash vacuum cleaner can simplify the
final cleaning of the stove compartment (Fig.
5.2c).
The ash drawer under the stove must
be emptied daily to prevent the ash
from overflowing, which would cause
the cast iron grill to overheat and ob-
struct the passage of air into the stove.
Refractory materials are subject to
deformation
while the appliance is running at high
temperatures. Inasmuch, any cracks
left between refractory tiles should be
considered normal. During combus-
tion, these cracks become filled with
ash which absorbs the heat expansion
of the refractory materials.
