Important Safety Notes
G
Warning
The roof load raises the vehicle's centre of gravity,
thereby changing its handling characteristics. You
must observe the maximum permissible roof load
for your vehicle. (Please refer to the vehicle's
Owner's Manual.) Make sure that you never
exceed the maximum roof load or the maximum
permissible gross weight for your vehicle, even
when roof attachments (e.g. ski rack, roof box,
etc.) are fitted. Otherwise, the basic carrier bars,
fitted accessories and the objects attached to
them could come loose from the vehicle, thereby
injuring you and other persons and/or causing
damage to property, including damage to your
vehicle.
Bear in mind that the vehicle's dimensions change
due to the fitted basic carrier system.
If you encounter difficulties during the installation,
please contact a qualified specialist workshop.
Mercedes-Benz recommends a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre for this purpose.
Always adapt your driving style to the prevailing road,
traffic and weather conditions, and drive with
particular care when the roof is loaded.
For reasons of safety and fuel economy, the basic
carrier bars should be removed from the vehicle
when they are not in use.
Do not put the vehicle through an automatic car
wash with the basic carrier bars fitted.
For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz recommends
that you only use accessories that have been
approved for Mercedes-Benz specifically for use with
these carrier bars.
Please observe the respective installation
instructions for fitting roof attachments (ski rack,
roof box, etc.).
Important (A-Class and CLA vehicles):
With the basic carrier bars fitted, the panoramic
sliding sunroof cannot be opened. To ventilate the
vehicle interior, the panoramic sliding sunroof may,
however, still be tilted at the rear.
In the event of contact with the basic carrier bars, the
panoramic sliding sunroof automatically lowers itself
slightly but remains raised at the rear.
Note (B-Class vehicles):
Make sure that the roof load on the basic carrier bars
does not obstruct the movement of the panorama
sliding sunroof. The panorama sliding sunroof could
otherwise be damaged when it is raised.
