been exceeded – see Chapter 9. If service or total life time has been exceeded, remove GCE
product from service & suitably identify its status.
•
Ensure that the product inlet stem is compatible with the medical gas cylinder (gas/ thread
type).
•
Check the presence & the integrity of seals / sealing materials (PTFE tape, O-ring) on inlet
stem.
•
Gas cylinder pressure rating must be at least equal to or greater than the rated combination
valve inlet pressure.
The product is designed only for use with the gas specified in its labelling. Never try
to fit it on gas cylinder for a different gas.
Fitting of valve to gas cylinder
•
Observe oxygen cleanliness standards during fitting.
•
In fitting of combination valve to the cylinder follow torque figures specified in EN ISO 13341.
Do not exceed the maximum torque allowed for the cylinder. Too high torque may
damage the valve thread preventing reuse. Certain types of cylinders may require a
torque lower than stipulated in EN ISO 13341. Check torque value with your cylinder
supplier.
Tighten inlet steam thread only contacting square surfaces on combination valve body.
Multiple installation or removal can damage inlet stem thread.
Take care not to damage external components for instance pressure gauge.
6a.3 FILLING OPERATIONS
Visual inspection before filling
Remove protective caps from filling port, pressure and flow outlet (if any). Keep the
caps in a safety place for reuse in transport or storage.
•
Check if there is visible damage on the product, its parts and filling adaptor. If it shows signs
of external damages, remove it from service and suitably identify its status.
•
Visually check if the product, its parts, especially filling port and filling adaptor is contaminated;
if needed, apply the cleaning procedure hereunder (For the medical gas cylinder and the
filling adaptor, refer to the cylinder manufacturer for cleaning procedure if needed).
•
Check if the service or the total life time of GCE product and gas cylinder has not been
exceeded – see
•
Chapter 9. If service or life time has been exceeded, remove the product from service &
suitably identify its status.
•
Ensure that the combination valve filling port is compatible with the filling adaptor (gas/type).
•
The filling pressure (settled pressure at 15°C) shall not exceed rated combination valve inlet
pressure.
Filling adaptor connection
•
Observe oxygen cleanliness standards during filling.
The combination valve must be vented prior to connecting the filling adaptor.
•
Combination valve internal venting
Venting through the combination valve quick-coupler must only be performed with
appropriate quickcoupler probe. Contact GCE for further information about quick-
coupler probe available for your product.
For combination valves fitted with flow control head:
•
ensure that the shut-off valve is turned off,
•
set flow control knob on the maximum position - ensure that the flow control knob engages
correctly,
•
wait until the combination valve has completely been vented,
