Recharging complete:
-
remove the battery (A) from the battery charger (C) and
GB
refit it on the machine;
-
disconnect the battery charger (C) from the power outlet.
WARNING! The lawnmower is equipped with a safety
circuit to prevent unauthorized use! Before starting
the lawnmower you must insert the safety plug (9, Fig.2)
and remove it whenever you suspend or finish mowing.
- Start the engine in an open area, not on high grass. Remove
all stones, sticks, wires etc. from the area to be mowed.
- Carefully read the Safety Rules listed in this Manual.
- Before starting the engine, make sure the blade is free to
turn.
- Start the engine carefully according to instructions and
with feet well away from the blade.
Start the engine (Fig. 15)
Before starting the lawnmower, insert safety plug (A) into its
socket (B), then press button (C) and pull lever (D).
WARNING! In the case of overheating the battery will
be disconnected automatically by the protection circuit
for safety reasons. Remove the battery from the machine and
allow it to cool. Once the battery has cooled it can be refitted
and work can be resumed.

6. USE

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING!
- Never use the lawnmower on wet grass or on other slippery
surfaces. Hold the handlebar firmly with two hands. Walk
behind the lawnmower, never run.
- Do not mow up or down a slope, but always across it; if the
slope is too steep, do not mow.
- Mow only in daylight or under strong artificial lighting.
- Always check that rear deflector is properly in place.
- If you strike an object, stop the engine and check for any
damage; do not restart the engine before carrying out the
necessary repairs.
- Do not tilt the mower when starting: the blade could cause
injuries.
- Never stand in front of the mower when the engine is
running.
- Stop the engine when crossing paths, drives and when
transporting the lawnmover to and from the area to be
mowed.
- Stop the motor and remove the safety plug (9, Fig.2) before
removing the grass catcher or cleaning the grass discharge
chute.
- Always maintain a secure footing on slopes.
- Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on
slopes and when transporting the lawnmover to and from
the area to be mowed.
- Ensure that only replacement cutting means of the right
type are used.
- Exercise extreme caution when reversing or pulling the
lawnmower towards you.
- Never touch the blades before having disconnected the
safety plug (9, Fig.2) and before the blades have stopped
completely.
20
- Do not use the lawnmower if the grass catcher is broken or
clogged with grass.
- In the case of anomalous vibration: check for damage,
renew any damaged parts and check and tighten any loose
parts.
Cutting height adjustment
WARNING! Adjust the cutting height only with the
motor stopped and safety plug (9, Fig.2) removed.
Adjust lever (A) to set the required cutting height (Fig.16).
NOTE
- If the grass is too high make two cuts: the first one at
maximum height; the second at the desired height.
- Mow the lawn in a spiral from the edge to the centre.
FULL-BAG INDICATOR
There is a full-bag indicator on top of the grass catcher (7,
Fig.2). When the flap is in its raised position (A, Fig.17A) this
means that the grass catcher is collecting grass cuttings.
When the flap is in its lowered position (A, Fig.17B) this means
that the grass catcher is full and must be emptied.
MULCHING
The mowers already has a pre-fixed mulching blade. This
configuration permits the operator to choose between three
different types of grass cutting:
1. With catcher assembled: the mulching blade permits a
higher crumbling of the cut grass, to obtain a better
loading of the catcher.
2. With disassembled catcher and rear deflector closed:
the mulching blade permits good crumbling of the cut
grass which is directly discharged on the ground.
3. Mulching: to make a real mulching, the mulching plug (C,
Fig. 21-22) is needed as to obtain maximum crumble of
the cut grass. The mulching plug (C, Fig. 21-22) p.n.
66110127R can be mounted by inserting it into the hole
below the rear deflector (D).
NOTES ON MULCHING GRASS
When the mower is used as a mulcher, the grass should not
be allowed to grow higher than 5-6 cm. Equally, it is best
never to set the machine too low. Failure to observe these
basic rules may result in unsuccessful mulching, and in
extreme cases could cause the engine to stall.
SIDE DISCHARGE (only on models equipped with this
feature)
If you prefer the cuttings to be discharged onto the ground
rather than collected, use the side deflector (Fig. 23) supplied
with the lawnmower.
To set up the lawnmower for side discharge remove the grass
catcher and fit the mulching plug (see "MULCHING" section
on).
To fit the side deflector (A, Fig.25), press the safety catch (E,
Fig.24), lift the side flap (B) and attach the two clips (C, Fig.25-
26) to the rod (D). Now release side flap (B, Fig. 27) so that its
spring loading system holds deflector (A) in position.
WARNING: incorrect assembly of the side discharge
deflector kit could result in serious injury to the
operator or to bystanders.
