• A/2: Designates the "A/2" marking on anchorage points
intended for fall arrest systems which must be symmetrically
coupled to each other by means of an EN 362 connector
to form a single anchorage point.
• M: Designates a work position holding anchorage point (EN 358).
• S: Designates an anchorage point for work in suspended
positions on taut rope (EN 813).

• Webbing + stitching: polyester.
• Buckles made of zinc-plated steel or cataphoresis-treated steel
and aluminium.
• Foam back pad covered with armed tissues.
• Back plate, loops: Polyurethylene, thermo – plastic elastomer.
The label on each harness indicates:
a. The commercial brand: Tractel
b. The product designation,
c. The reference standard followed by the year of application,
d. The product reference: ex 010642,
e. The CE logo, followed by the number of a notified organisation
article 11 B, production control 0082,
f. Year and week of manufacture,
g. Serial number,
h. A pictogram indicating that you must read the manual
before use,
w. Working load limit.

9 - Prohibited safety

It is strictly prohibited to:
• use a HT harness which shows any visual defect on the straps,
buckles or stitching.
• use a HT harness without first having been authorised, trained
and qualified or, failing this, without the supervision of a person
who is authorised, trained and qualified.
• use a HT harness if its markings cannot be read.
• use a HT harness which has not been subject to the preliminary
checks.
• use a HT harness which has not been subject to a periodic
inspection over the past 12 months by a technician which has
authorised re-use of the harness in writing.
• connect a HT harness to a point which has not been covered
by a periodic inspection over the past 12 months by a technician
which has subsequently authorised re-use in writing.
• use a HT harness for any application other than as a personal fall
arrest harness.
• connect a HT harness to any point other than one of its
anchorage points.
• use a HT harness beyond the service life period defined in the
section: "Service life of HT harness".
• use a HT harness by a person whose weight, equipment
included, is greater than 100 kg. For a weight greater than
100 kg, contact Tractel
• use a HT harness if it has served to stop a fall.
• use a HT harness in a highly corrosive or explosive atmosphere.
• use a HT harness outside the temperature ranges specified in
this manual.
• use a HT harness if the fall clearance is not sufficient in the event
of a fall by the person wearing the harness.
• use a HT harness when there is an obstacle located on the fall
trajectory.

• use a HT harness if you are not in a healthy physical condition.
• use a HT harness if you are pregnant.
• use a HT harness if the safety function of one of the items
associated to the harness is affected by the safety function of
another item or interferes with it.
• use a HT harness if the webbing may come into contact with any
sharp edges.
• use a HT harness if one of the fall indicators has been activated:
see figure 2.a.
• secure the fall arrest system to a structural anchor point having
a strength of less than 10 kN.
• use a HT harness if it is not complete, if it has been disassembled
beforehand or if any of its components have been replaced or
modified.
• use a HT harness if a rescue plan has not been put into place.
• use a HT harness if all the buckles are not correctly locked.
• use a HT harness if all the straps are not properly adjusted
for the user.
• use a HT harness if the fall arrest system is not correctly
connected to the anchor point.
• use a HT harness if the connector connecting the fall arrest
system is not correctly locked.
• connect a fall arrester to an anchorage point not marked "A"
or "A/2".
• use an HT harness if only one anchorage point marked "A/2" is
connected to the fall arrester connector.
• use a HT harness equipped with Elastrac
operate correctly or if they are broken.
• work suspended on a saddle without having a fall arrest harness
and a fall arrest system correctly installed and used. (fig. 8e).
• use a saddle if the straps are incorrectly adjusted.
• use a saddle if the anchorage quick links are not correctly
fastened to the suspended work system.
• work on a saddle if you are not correctly installed in the saddle.
• to work in suspension if the operator has not been trained in
this technique.
• to work in suspension if the operator has not been declared
medically apt for this type of technique.
Other examples of improper use of the equipment are not given
in this list. There are a large number of examples of improper use
of the equipment which we cannot list here, or even imagine.

Fall arrest system (EN 363)
• Anchor point (EN 795).
• End connector (EN362).
• Fall arrest system (EN353 - 1/2-EN 355 - EN360).
• Connector (EN362).
Before using a fall arrest system (EN 363), check that each of
the components can be used and operates correctly.
11 - Maintenance
and storage
• If a harness is dirty, clean it with clear, cold water, using a
detergent for delicate textile if necessary and a synthetic brush.
See figure 5a.
• If during use or washing a harness has become wet, allow it to
dry naturally in the shade away from any source of heat:
see figure 5b.
