Incorrect calibration can lead to incorrect measurement results, which may
result in serious damage to health.
► Before performing safety-related measurements, check the calibration with
a functional test and adjust as necessary. If national regulations exist, the
functional test must be performed in accordance with these regulations.
Five steps must be completed to ensure operational readiness (typically
10 minutes):
1. Turn on the gas detector.
2. Follow the instructions in the mobile app.
3. Wait for the start-up phase, heat-up phase and temperature stabilisation.

4. Ensure that neither of the gas inlet openings or the gas outlet opening on
the sensor unit are covered or contaminated.
5. Ensure that the water and dust filter is fitted and not covered or
contaminated.

During operation

– In operation, the mobile app is used to control the sensor unit, display
measured values and issue error messages, warnings and alarms.
– The status LED on the sensor unit continues to display whether it is

4.4.1

Measuring in Seeker mode

– The Seeker mode is used for continuous measurement of the total
concentration of multiple volatile organic compounds in the ambient air at
the workplace and in explosion-hazard areas.
– Read off the direct display of the Seeker mode in the Measure view.
– Individual response factors are not taken into account; instead a simplified
response of isobutylene is assumed (CAS number 115-11-7).
4.4.2

Measuring in Analysis mode

– The Analysis mode is used for measuring the concentration of individual
hazardous substances in the ambient air at the workplace and in explosion-
hazard areas.
– Start analysis programs for preset target compounds in the Measure view.
– Read off the selective result when the measurement period elapses.
– Individual response factors of the target compounds are taken into account.

Identifying alarms

Visual alarms can be displayed in the mobile app and acoustic alarms as well
as vibration alarms can be issued by the control unit. Alarms are dependent on
substance-specific limit values that first need to be configured by the user. For

4.6

Standby mode

– The sensor unit can be placed in standby mode in the mobile app to shorten
the time until operational readiness following a break between
measurements.
– Standby mode must be exited in the mobile app to restart the sensor unit.
– No measurements can be carried out in standby mode.
