Introduction
Thank you for buying this InPro
sor from METTLER TOLEDO. InPro 8000 Series are optical
sensors which measure the concentration of suspended
particles in a liquid medium on the basis of the principle of
backscattered light. The sensor is operated with the M800
transmitter from METTLER TOLEDO.

Safety instructions

Notice: Before every start-up, the sensor must be
checked for:
– Damage to the connections, fastenings, etc.
– Leakage
– Perfect functioning
– Authorization for use in conjunction with other plant

Notice: The manufacturer / supplier accepts no re-
sponsibility for any damage caused by unauthorized
attachments or for the incorporation of spare parts
which are not of METTLER TOLEDO provenance. The
risk is borne entirely by the operator.

Caution: Before the sensor is put into operation, the
operator must have already clarified that use of the
sensor in conjunction with the other associated equip-
ment and resources is fully authorized.

Caution: A defective sensor may neither be installed
nor put into operation. Faulty containment or installa-
tion out of conformance with regulations and instruc-
tions can lead to the escape of medium or to pressure
surges (explosion), potentially harmful both to per-
sons and to the environment.

Caution: Before installation in Ex-zones, please read
and observe the guidelines (from instruction manuals)
and adhere to side requirements.

Caution: The fiber optic cables have a core of hard
clad silica (HCS) fibers. When laying fiber optic ca-
bles, the bend radius must always exceed at least
10 cm (4"). Fiber optic cables may never be shortened
independently. Fitting of the SMA plug requires special
tooling. The transparent plastic cap on the sensor is
to be removed before use. Any formation of deposits
of solid particles on the surface is to be avoided.

Warning: Before dismantling the sensor or commenc-
ing any maintenance work on it, ensure that the equip-
ment in which the sensor is installed is in a safe con-
dition (depressurize, no explosion risk, empty, rinse,
vent, etc.). The metal body of the turbidity sensors as
well as the safety weld-in sockets METTLER TOLEDO
housing InFit
if necessary, to be included into the recurring pressure
test of the unit.

Product description
InPro 8100 / 8200 series are ATEX certified to be installed in
Ex-classified area. Please observe the precautions and spe-
cial conditions for safe use before installing the sensor in an
Ex-classified area.
