System interconnections
4. System interconnections
The communication interfaces used in a self-consumption system are outlined throughout this chapter. The
following elements must be connected to the INGECON EMS Manager:
•
Wattmeter.
•
PV generation units.
•
Battery inverters/chargers.
Read carefully before starting the connection process.

Description of the connection points in the INGECON EMS Manager
See the INGECON EMS Manager manual for information about the connection points of the
INGECON EMS Manager.
All connections must be made in the absence of live voltage.
4.1. Wattmeter
The wattmeter communicates with the INGECON EMS Manager via RS-485.
4.2. PV generation
Communication of the PV generation units with the INGECON EMS Manager will be carried out via Ethernet.
Single-phase installations
If there is more than one unit, only communication via Ethernet with one of them will be required, provided that
there is communication via RS-485 between all the PV generation inverters.
Three-phase installations
•
Single-phase inverters: one unit of each phase must be in communication with the INGECON EMS
Manager via Ethernet, enabling communication of all the units of the same phase via RS-485.
•
Three-phase inverters: in installations with more than one three-phase unit, they can communicate via
RS-485, while at least one inverter is required to communicate via Ethernet with the INGECON EMS
Manager for control purposes.
