DEFECTS, CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS

Deffect
Defects
· There is reactive power
circulation between generators
when operating in parallel.
· Generated voltage decreases
when applied load and does not
return.
· Generator output voltage does
not increase.
· Generated voltage oscillates in
no load.
· Voltage overshot.
· With connection without
auxiliary coil the regulator do not
star the excitation².
· The voltage is outside to the
specified range.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

Periodical inspections of the equipment are required to ensure they are clean, dust and moisture free. It is essential that all
terminal and connections are kept free from corrosion.
30.
WARRANTY
See the Installation and Maintenance Manual of the G Line generator WEG.
Causes
Causes
· Phase sequence (R-S-T) incorrect;
· CT reversely connected;
· Droop adjustment very low.
· Reduction in the driving machine rotation;
· U/F limiter actuating.
· Residual voltage is too low ²;
· Terminals F+ and F- inverted.
· Dynamics is not adjusted properly;
· Excitation voltage of the generator is too
low.
· Lack of sensing voltage;
· Faulty electronic circuit
· Sensing voltage incompatible with the
regulator.
· The voltage was adjusted with a very low
value (160V), keeping the generator turned
off.
· The power supply voltage is below of the
specified value.

Solution
Solutions
· Connect the phases sequence correctly;
· Polarize CT in the phase correctly;
· Increase droop adjustment by turning trimpot clockwise.
· Correct speed regulator;
· Adjust U/F limiter, by turning the trimpot clockwise.
· With the regulator ON, use external battery (12Vcc) to force
excitation ¹;
· Invert F+ and F-.
· Adjust the voltage trimpot;
· Put a resistor 15Ω/200W in series with the excitation field.
· Verify if the generator's phases are present in the sensing
voltage;
· Make the regulator change;
· Use a connection that supplies correctly the voltage to the
regulator.
· Increase for reference voltage until the regulator initiates the
excitation.
· Select the regulator/generator connection adequate to
provide the correct power supply voltage.
