ROUTING
USING THE FENCE
NOTE: Although feather boards are shown in
some of the following figures, feather boards are
included with model #9-26464 only. However, the
set-up and routing technique apply whether
or not feather boards are used.
I _,WARNINGI
To prevent serious bodily injury,
always make sure that the router is turned off
and the bit is not turning, and that the router
or switch box is unplugged from the electrical
outlet before making adjustments of any kind.

I
I
I In the event of a power failure,
blown fuse, tripped circuit breaker, or router
"stall out" while routing, push the switch paddle
to turn the router off.
Remove the safety key from the switch and
unplug the switch from the electrical outlet
until the cause of the problem has been found
and corrected.
JOINTING
(FULL EDGE CUTTING)
NOTE: Jointing is the only routing operation
using the fence in which the left lower fence is
offset from the right lower fence. For all other
routing operations, both lower fences are
always aligned.
For maximum strength and accuracy, boards that are
to be joined together should be smooth and true.
The edges should be true to the workpiece surface.
You can true the edges using the router table with a
straight bit.
1,
Remove the left lower fence from the upper
fence and assemble it to the upper fence as
shown in Figure 35. The small identifying
grooves in the lower fence should face
outward as shown. This will offset the left
side lower fence from the right fence. The two
clamping knobs should be loose while doing this.
2,
Only one feather board is used when making
these cuts. Install the feather board on the left
side of the table as shown in Figure 36. See
"INSTALLING THE FEATHER BOARDS".

7,
Install a straight bit in the router.
Position both lower fences from SIDE-TO-SIDE
so that they clear the bit by 1/4".
Tighten the four clamping knobs holding the
fences in place.
Place a straight edge or a straight piece of wood
on the table so that it rests against the left fence,
as shown in Figure 36.
Move the fences outward until the straight edge
lines up with the cutting edge of the bit and is
still in contact with the left lower fence.
