Recommendations for storing and commissioning LC liquid-cooled motors
- When connecting cables without connectors, use calipers.
- Connect the thermal protective devices and accessories.
- Ensure that the cable gland is dust and damp proof: the cable gland must correspond to the diameter of cable used.
• Bring the cables into the terminal box with a bending radius which prevents water from penetrating via the cable gland.
- Connect according to the coupling information on the identification plate and the diagram in the terminal box. Check the direction
of rotation of the motor.
- Earthing: when connecting to earth, conform to the current national standards.
- Do not connect the motor if you do not understand the wiring diagram or if this is missing : please consult LEROY-SOMER.
- The installer is responsible for adhering to the rules on electrical compatibility applicable in the country where the products will be
used.
• COMMISSIONING
- The motor is designed to run at the speed indicated on the information plate (do not exceed the maximum speed mentioned in the
technical catalogue).
- Comply with the voltage and frequency indicated on the nameplate (do not deviate by ± 5% from the voltage limits indicated or by
± 1% from the frequencies).
- Certain applications require particular construction specifications.
Do not use a motor for hoisting which is not marked either S3 or S4.
Do not use the motor for anything other than indicated on the nameplate, particularly not for hoist-ing applications.
- Check the voltage unbalance on the 3 phases remains below 2%.
- Use the appropriate quantity of water (minimum flow) and max pressure indicated on the information plate.
- To use the motor at an ambient temperature below +5°C, add antifreeze (Glycol type) to the cooling water in a 40% antifreeze /
60% water mix.
• MAINTENANCE
- Ensure that the mechanical and electrical installation temperature limits are respected.
- Refer to the nameplate for the frequency of greasing the bearings and the type of grease to be used. If no details are given, the
bearings are greased for life.
• NOISE LEVEL
- The motors conform to the requirements of standard EN 60034-9.
• RECYCLING
- When reaching end-of-life, the different motor components should be entrusted to a material reclaiming contractor to be recycled.
- Recycling the components of a three-phase asynchronous motor does not call for particular treatment.
WARNING: These specifications, instructions and descriptions concern standard operation. They do not take into account
any variations in construction or special adaptations.
If these recommendations are not respected, the motor may deteriorate prematurely and manufacturer guarantee may not
apply.
