chainsaw until it has been properly adjusted
or repaired.

Correctly adjusted carburettor

When the carburettor is correctly adjusted the product
accelerates without hesitation and 4-cycles a little at full
throttle. It is also important that the saw chain does not
rotate at idle. If the L-jet is set too lean it may cause
starting difficulties and poor acceleration. If the H-jet is
set too lean the product will have less power, poor
acceleration and could suffer damage to the engine.
Examination, maintenance and
service of the product's safety
equipment
Note: All service and repair work on the product
demands special training, especially maintenance work
regarding the safety devices on the product. If your
product fails any of the checks described below we
recommend you to bring your product to your servicing
dealer.
To do a check of the brake band
1. Brush off any wood dust, resin and dirt from the
chain brake and clutch drum. Dirt and wear can
impair operation of the brake. (Fig. 87)
2. Do a check of the brake band. The brake band must
be at least 0,6 mm (0.024 inch) thick at its thinnest
point.
To do a check of the front hand guard
Regularly carry out a check of the front hand guard and
the inertia brake release.
1. Do a visible check to make sure the front hand guard
is not damaged and that there are no visible defects
such as cracks.
2. Move the front hand guard forwards and backwards
to make sure it moves freely and that it is securely
anchored to the clutch cover.
3. Place the chainsaw, with the engine switched off, on
a stump or other stable surface.
4. Release the front handle and let the chainsaw fall by
its own weight, rotating around the rear handle
towards the stump. (Fig. 88)
5. Make sure that the chain brake activates as the
guide bar hits the stump. (Fig. 89)
To do a check of the brake trigger
1. Place the chainsaw on firm ground and start it. See
instructions under heading
page 25 . (Fig. 90)
WARNING: Make sure that the saw
chain does not touch the ground or any
other object.

To start the product on
2. Grasp the chainsaw firmly, wrapping your fingers
and thumbs around the handles. (Fig. 91)
3. Apply full throttle and tilt your left wrist forward onto
the front hand guard to activate the chain brake. The
saw chain should stop immediately. (Fig. 92)
WARNING: Do not let go of the front handle!
To do a check of the throttle trigger lockout
1. Make sure that the throttle trigger is locked at the
idle setting when the throttle trigger lockout is
released. (Fig. 93)
2. Press down the throttle trigger lockout and make
sure that it returns to its default position when you
release it. (Fig. 94)
3. Make sure that the throttle trigger and throttle trigger
lockout move freely and that the return spring work
properly. (Fig. 95)
4. Start the chainsaw and apply full throttle.
5. Release the throttle trigger and make sure that the
saw chain stops and remains stationary. If the saw
chain rotates when the throttle trigger is in the idle
position, contact your servicing dealer.
To do a check of the chain catcher
1. Do a visible check and make sure that there is no
damage on the chain catcher.
2. Make sure that the chain catcher is firmly attached to
the body of the chainsaw. (Fig. 96)
To do a check of the right hand guard
Do a check of the right hand guard to make sure that
it is not damaged and that there are no visible
defects, such as cracks. (Fig. 97)
To do a check of the vibration damping
system
1. Do a check of the vibration damping units to make
sure that there are no cracks or deformation.
2. Make sure that the vibration damping units are
securely attached to the engine unit and handle unit.
(Fig. 98)
To do a check of the start/stop switch
1. Start the engine.
2. Press the start/stop switch downwards to the STOP
position. Make sure that the engine stops when you
do this. (Fig. 29)
WARNING: The start/stop switch
