The terminal box contains the insulated terminals for connecting the line
and neutral and for the earth connection.
The neutral is NOT connected to the housing.
Warning! The generator is supplied without a connection to earth;
to make this connection refer to relevant local regulations. An
inefficient earth connection or safety cut-out can cause injury or
death.
The generator fault currents are available on request to help the plant
engineer in sizing the plant and its components.
Warning! An error in installation, use, maintenance or replacement
of parts can cause severe injury or death, not to mention damage
to the machinery. All work on electrical and/or mechanical parts
must be carried out by a qualified specialist.
6. INSTALLATION
6.1 Lifting
Lift and handle the generator with suitable equipment either on a pallet
or by the lifting lugs located on the generator in the positions indicated
in the figure.
When lifting the generator use equipment with a loadbearing ca-
pacity of at least 200kg.
Caution! An insufficient loadbearing capacity can cause severe
injury and damage .
Caution! The lifting lugs on the generator have been designed for
lifting only the generator and not the whole electricity generating
set.
When lifting and handling single bearing generators they must be kept
horizontal in order to avoid, if operations should go wrong, the rotor from
slipping out and being damaged and possibly causing severe injury.
6.2 Mounting on motor
6.2.1 Assembly format IM B35 (see figure on the right)
Caution! Before assembly check that the cone couplings (both
on generator and motor) are compatible, in order and perfectly
clean.
• Remove the protective grilles (6).
• Fasten the shield (1) to the motor (after having removed it from the
alternator).
• Apply the tie rod (2) that anchors the rotor axially by screwing it onto
the external section of the motor shaft.
• Anchor the complete generator assembly (i.e. stator and rotor) to the
shield using the 4 self-locking nuts (3).
• Check that the cone couplings of rotor and motor have made contact
by hammering the rotor axially with a plastic mallet and block.
• Lock axially the rotor by turning the self-locking nut (4) on the tie rod
(2).
Caution! Before fastening the nut check that part of the threaded
section of the tie rod enters the rotor thereby obtaining a sound
hold.
• Check that exciter rotor and stator are perfectly aligned.
• Mount the assembly on antivibration plugs (5) making sure that motor
and generator are level.
Caution!
An insufficient loadbearing capacity can cause
severe injury and damage .
The lifting lugs on the generator have been de-
signed for lifting only the generator and not the
whole electricity generating set.
Caution!
Before assembly check that the cone cou-
plings (both on generator and motor) are
compatible, in order and perfectly clean.
Caution!
Before fastening the nut check that part of
the threaded section of the tie rod enters the
rotor thereby obtaining a sound hold.
