ting tube (Item 8) off the module.
2. Put the connecting tube (Item 8) onto the mo-
dule (e.g. the pole-mounted pruner, Item 14).
3. Screw the union nut (Item 8a) on the module
(e.g. the pole-mounted pruner, Item 14) until it
is tight.
5.3.2 Fitting the cutter rail and saw chain
(Fig. 17-19)
1. Use the multifunction tool size 13 (Item 22)
to remove the fastening screw for the chain
wheel cover (Item 14a).
2. Remove the chain wheel cover.
3. Lay the saw chain (Item 18) in the groove
which runs around the cutter rail (Item 19).
4. Insert the cutter rail (Item 19) and the saw
chain (Item 18) into the mount of the pole-
mounted pruner. At the same time guide the
saw chain around the chain wheel (Item 14b)
and hook the cutter rail into the chain tensio-
ning bolt (Item 14c).
5. Fit the chain wheel cover and tighten the fas-
tening screw hand-tight.
Note: Do not fully tighten the fastening screw until
after you have adjusted the chain tension (see
section 5.3.3).
5.3.3 Tensioning the saw chain (Fig. 20-21)
1. Slacken the fastening screw for the chain
wheel cover slightly (use the size 13 multi-
function tool).
2. Adjust the tension of the saw chain by using
the multifunction tool 4mm (Item 22) to turn
the chain tensioning screw (Item 14d). Turning
the screw clockwise increases the chain ten-
sion, turning it counter-clockwise decreases
the chain tension. The saw chain is correctly
tensioned if it can be lifted approx. 2 mm in
the middle of the cutter rail.
3. Tighten the fastening screw for the chain
wheel cover (use the size 13 multifunction
tool).
Danger! All the chain links must lie properly in
the guide groove of the rail.
Notes on tensioning the chain:
The saw chain must be properly tensioned to en-
sure safe operation. When the saw chain can be
raised by around 2 mm in the middle of the cutter
rail, you know that the chain tension is ideal (Fig.
21). During cutting, the temperature of the saw
chain rises and its length changes. It is important
therefore to check the chain tension at least every
10 minutes and to adjust it again as required. This

applies in particular to new saw chains. When
you have fi nished working, slacken the saw chain
again as it will shorten when it cools down. This
will help to prevent damage to the chain.
5.3.4 Saw chain lubrication
Important! (Fig. 22) Never operate the chain if
it is not lubricated with saw chain oil! Use of the
pole-mounted pruner without saw chain oil or with
the oil level below the „min" mark will result in da-
mage to the cordless pole-mounted pruner.
Important! Be aware of the temperature con-
ditions:
Diff erent lubricants with completely diff erent
viscosities are required at diff erent ambient tem-
peratures. At lower temperatures you will need
low viscosity oils in order to achieve a suffi cient
lubricating fi lm. However, if the same low viscosity
oil is used during the summer it will become even
thinner due to the ambient temperatures alone,
and as a result the lubricating fi lm could break
down, causing the chain to overheat and become
damaged. In addition, the chain oil would burn
and produce unnecessary pollutants.
Filling the oil tank (Fig. 22)
1. Place the pole-mounted pruner on an even
surface.
2. Clean the area around the oil tank lid (Item
10) and remove the lid.
3. Fill the tank (Item 10a) with saw chain oil. In
the process, make sure that no dirt enters
the tank, as this could cause the oil nozzle to
become blocked.
4. Screw the oil tank lid (Item 10) back on again.
The pole-mounted pruner will be ready for use
after you have screwed it to the motor unit (see
section 5.2.6).
5.4 Assembly/adjustments of the hedge trim-
mer
5.4.1 Assembly
The hedge trimmer is ready for use once the
connecting tube has been converted (see section
5.3.1) and it has been screwed to the motor unit
(see section 5.2.6).
5.4 Adjusting the housing tilt (Fig. 23)
Press the lock-off button (Item 15a) and adjust
the tilt of the housing to any of 7 latching posi-
tions.
