5-Dynamic adjustment
Walking must be the least tiring as possible for the patient.
During this fitting trial, cut the tube and the intermediate piece to adjust the prosthesis height and check that the interme diate piece
protudes from the tube-holder.
Knee hyper-extension. The patient feels as if he raises on his forefoot.
The prosthesis can hardly be controlled, the foot returns few energy at step completion. Make an anterior translation of the foot relative to the socket.
Knee hyper-extension in static vertical position.
Note : Increasing equinus provides a more dynamic alignment. It increases energy return at step completion, but decreases stability when the patient does not walk.
6-Finishing : Sticking must be carefully perform ed : the mechanical properties of the foot depends on it
After adjustment, remove the cosmetic cover and mark the position of the half-soles relative to the J-form strut. Loosen the screws
with a 10 mm hex wrench. Sand the surfaces that will be sticked until you reach the fiber, remove dust and degrease. Position the
half-soles on each side of the assembling Tee. Apply glue to the parts and the reinforcing plates and take care to fill up compl etely
the apertures of the J-form strut. Assemble the screws and the washers (spheric part on the bevel of the reinforcing piece) and
tighten to get a 8.5±0.5 Nm tightening torque. Take care to follow the instructions for use of the supplied glue (setting tim e, etc...)
Remove the foot from the assembling tee and clean glue stains. There must be no glue in the slit.
When the glue is dry, put the supplied protecting sock on the struts and slip the cosmetic cover on them. Check that the
soles are well cliped inside the cosmetic cover. To avoid rubbing noises, pull the sock onto the strut and fix it with a fine
string for example.
Installation of the malleolar clip : Cut the cosmetic foam to the desired length, position it on the foot and draw the malleolus contour.
Inside the foam mill a space that will receive the selected connector and the foot part protruding from the cover, and at the same
time take care that thickness be sufficient to allow for sticking. Position the device carefully and clip it into the cosmesi s. Clean con-
tact surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and stick the device on the foam with XC090 neoprene adhesive. After drying, finish the outer
shape as usually.
7-Tools/accessories
Assembling tee 1A41004
allows for an easier assembly
of the foot.
8– Recycling:
The different components of the foot are special wastes and must be treated accordingly.
Part for the patient
Clean the cosmetic cover with a slightly damp cloth or sponge.
Use temperature : - 20°C / +60 °C.
Do not let foreign bodies or dust inside the foot.
If the foot has been dipped or sprinkled, empty the remaining liquid and dry the foot rapidly.
A use of the foot that does not adhere to your prosthetist's recommendations can damage foot components.
In case of an abnormal behaviour of your foot, or changes in your foot f eatures, or if the foot sustained a hard
shock, contact your prosthetist.
Problems
Shoe horn 1A40019 allows to
remove and re-install the
cosmetic cover.
ADVICE FOR USE, MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY
Make a posterior translation of the foot relative to the socket.
Only in that case we can adjust equinus adjustment by adding a few mm to the
heel height (fig 1).
