• The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR can be used on either the front seat or rear seat, even if equipped with an airbag!
However, we recommend installing the seat on the rear seat. If this is not possible and the seat is
equipped with an airbag, make sure the seat is in the rearmost position. Also see the car manual, as the
airbags in many cars can be disconnected easily nowadays.
• The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR must only be used in a forward-facing seat equipped with an automatic or static
3-point safety belt that meets the ECE R16 or equivalent standard. NEVER USE A 2-POINT SAFETY BELT,
as this could result in death or injury in the event of an emergency stop or collision.
GB
• All fold-down rear seats must be locked. The backrest of the seat must ALWAYS be in an UPRIGHT
position.
• The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR has been approved according to the latest European safety standards (ECE
R44/04) and is suitable for children weighing 15 to 36 kg (approx. ages 3½ to 12 years and up to a
maximum height of 1.50 metres).
• Following an accident, the seat may become unsafe due to damage that is not visibly apparent. It should
therefore be replaced.
• The safety of the child car seat can only be guaranteed by the manufacturer when used by the original
owner.
• We therefore strongly advise against using second-hand products, as you never know if they have been
involved in an accident.
• No alterations may be made to the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR, as this could affect part or the overall safety of the
seat.
• Do not use the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR without its cover. The cover may not be replaced with any cover other
than the one provided by the manufacturer, as the cover contributes to the safety of the child car seat.
• The foam parts in the head and backrest may not be removed.
• The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR may only be used as a child car seat and is not intended for home use.
• The manufacturer has taken into consideration the fact that child car seats may cause indentations in car
upholstery. This is unavoidable, due to the prescribed safety standards. Dorel is not liable for any damage
that may occur as a result.
• The moving parts of the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR may not be lubricated in any way.

2. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

• Prior to purchase, check to make sure the child car seat fits properly in your car, as different types of belt
systems are used in cars.
• The child car seat must always be fully secured with a seat belt, even when not in use. A loose car seat
can injure other passengers in the car during an emergency stop or accident. Securing the seat with the
elastic and anchor alone is insufficient.
• Always check to make sure the belt fits properly and securely. Remove all slack from the belt.
• When using the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR on the front passenger seat, this seat must be placed in the rearmost
position. The backrest of the seat must ALWAYS be in an UPRIGHT position. The seat and headrest can
be repositioned for use by a passenger.
• Make sure that all luggage and other objects that could cause injury in the event of an accident are
secured.
• Make sure that the child car seat does not become trapped or overloaded by heavy baggage, reclineable
seats or slamming doors.
• Make sure that any objects in the child's jacket or trouser pockets do not get stuck between the child and
the seat belt, as this could result in injury during an accident.
• Adult passengers who are not wearing seat belts can also form a danger for a child in a car seat.
• Always cover the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR when parking the car in the full sun, as the plastic could become
extremely hot and burn your child. This also prevents the fabric cover from discolouring.
• To prevent damage to the cover, do not remove the logos or instruction labels on the cover.
• Always use the child car seat, even on short trips, as this is when most accidents occur.
