• Do not use the Rodi XP without its cover. Always use the original cover, as the cover contributes to the safety of
the seat.
• Do not remove the foam parts in the head and backrest.
• The Rodi XP may only be used as a car safety seat and is not intended for use in the home.
• Use the Comfort Base mounting plate without the anchor piece if you can fit your hand between the Comfort Base
mounting plate and the seat of the car during assembly.
• WARNING: The manufacturer has taken into consideration the fact that car seats may cause indentations in car
upholstery. This is un-avoidable, however, due to the prescribed safety standards. Dorel is not liable for any
damage that may occur to the car upholstery as a result of this.
• Do not lubricate the moving parts of the Rodi XP in any way.
General guidelines
• Prior to purchase, check to make sure the car seat fits properly in your car, as different types of belt systems are
used in cars.
• The seat must always be secured with a seat belt, even when not in use. A loose car seat can injure other passengers
in the car during an emer-gency stop or accident.
• Always check to make sure the belt fits properly and securely. Pull the belt as tightly as possible, removing any slack.
• When using the Rodi XP, the passenger seat on which it is installed must be placed in the rearmost position. The
backrest must ALWAYS be in an UPRIGHT position. You can reposition the seat and headrest (after removing the car
seat) for use by an adult passenger.
• Make sure that all luggage and other objects likely to cause injury in the event of an accident are secured properly.
• Make sure the seat does not get trapped or overloaded by heavy baggage, reclinable seats or slamming doors.
• Make sure that any objects in your child's jacket or pants pockets do not get stuck between your child and the seat
belt, as this could result in injury during an accident.
• Adult passengers who are not wearing seat belts could also constitute a danger for a child in a car seat.
• Always cover the Rodi XP when parking the car in the sun, as the plastic and metal parts could become extremely
hot and burn your child. This also prevents the fabric cover from discolouring.
• In order to prevent damage to the cover, do not remove the logos or instruction label.
• Always use the car seat, even on short journeys, as this is when most accidents occur.
• Never strap yourself and a child together in a car using a 3 or 2-point safety belt.
• Remove the headrest from the seat on which the Rodi XP is installed if it is in the way. Do not forget to reinstall it
when an adult passenger uses the seat.
• Set a good example and always wear your seat belt.
• Tell your child to never play with the belt buckle.
• Take short breaks on longer journeys to allow your child some freedom of movement.
The seat belt
The Rodi XP can be installed safely in a forward-facing position on nearly all positions in the car using the car seat
belts. On some seats, however, the belts are fitted so far forward that proper installation is not possible. If this is the
case, try another seating position. In some instances, the seat belt buckle may be too long and therefore be positioned
too high against the base of the Rodi XP (Fig. 1). The Rodi XP can therefore not be installed properly. If this is the
case, choose a different seating position in the car. Contact the manufacturer with any questions.
Instructions for using the Rodi XP in a car
• The Rodi XP consists of three parts: a booster seat, a removable backrest and the Comfort Base mounting plate.
• The backrest may NEVER be used without the booster seat. We recommend using the Rodi XP for children weighing
a minimum of 15 kg and tall enough that the shoulder belt rests against their shoulder, not their neck.
• The car seat belts should be threaded along the red-coloured parts. The red-marked opening under the armrests on
the booster seat is for the lap belt and the red marked belt hooks on the headrest are for the shoulder belt.
• The Comfort Base system was developed to optimise the stability of the car seat on different types of seats.
