These motors are used to provide a SAFETY FUNCTION for people in the event of fire in public places
or in the home: they are therefore subject to strict constraints concerning their operation and
maintenance.
CONFORMITY
- The motors conform to standards IEC 60034, IEC 60072.
- They conform to the Low Voltage directive 2006/95/EC and therefore bear the CE mark.
- They adhere to the requirements of European standard EN 12101-3.
- This conformity permits the use of these motors in machines subject to the application of the
Machinery Directive 98-37 EC, provided that they are integrated or incorporated or (and) assembled
in accordance with, amongst others, the regulations of standard EN 60204 «Electrical Equipment for
Machinery» and the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 89-336 EEC dated 03.05.89 modified by
Directives 92-31 EEC dated 28.03.92 and 93-68 EEC dated 22.07.93.
- These motors may not be put into service until the machine in which they are incorporated has been
declared as conforming to the applicable Directive.
- Installation of these motors must comply with the regulations, decrees, laws, orders, Directives,
application circulars, standards, rules and any other document relating to the installation site. LEROY-
SOMER accepts no liability in the event of failure to comply with these rules and regulations.
- When the motors are supplied with power by customized electronic inverters or (and) controlled by
electronic control or monitoring devices, they must be installed by a professional who will be
responsible for ensuring that the electromagnetic compatibility regulations of the country in which the
product is installed are observed.
RECEIPT
- Check the state of the motors and power supply cables in the case of motors with flying leads or
equipped with a separate terminal box. If the motors or (and) the packaging are damaged, contact the
carrier within 48 hours and inform the supplier; failure to do this will mean that repairs will not be carried
out under warranty.
- Check that the motors conform to the order (mounting arrangement, time/temperature class,
information on the nameplate, etc).
COMMISSIONING
- Check on the nameplate that the selected motors correspond to the maximum exposure temperature
and duration. Adhere to the temperature rise class indicated on the plate. Also comply with the stated
voltage(s) and frequency(ies), and ensure that the power supply complies with standard IEC 60034.
- Non-ventilated motors (IC418) must be placed in the air flow of the driven fan; in this case, ensure
that the motors are normally ventilated and that the stated temperature rise class is complied with.
Self-cooled motors (IC411) can be placed outside the air flow.
- In the case of motors with flying leads or equipped with a separate terminal box, ensure that the
power supply cables are not damaged.
- Unless otherwise indicated on the motor nameplate, the stated power is the maximum power that
can be used in continuous duty at an ambient temperature between –15 °C and +40 °C in accordance
with IEC 60034.
- The motors are designed to operate at the speeds indicated on the nameplate: ensure that the motor
speed of rotation never exceeds that indicated on the nameplate.
- Where motors are equipped with accessories: thermal protection (PTC, etc), space heaters,
speed control device (PG, TG), these must be disabled during operation in smoke extraction
mode. A system must be provided that disconnects accessories automatically.
- With variable speed control, ensure that the maximum speed never exceeds the speed of the
motors supplied by the mains.
