SAFETY WARNINGS AND GENERAL
1
PRECAUTIONS
Caution! – Important safety instructions: keep these instructions to hand
in a safe place.
Caution! – For personal safety, it is important to follow these instructions.
Carefully read the instructions before you start working.
1.1 - Installation warnings
•
All installation, connection, programming and maintenance operations must be
performed exclusively by suitably qualified and skilled personnel in observance of
local legislation, standards and regulations and the instructions in this manual.
• Before installation, ensure that this product is suitable for automation of your
Venetian blind (read chapter 2 and paragraph 3.1).
• All product installation and maintenance operations must be performed with
the automation disconnected from the power mains. As a precaution, before
starting work, affix a notice on the disconnect device, with the text "CAU-
TION! MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS".
•
Before starting installation operations, move all unnecessary cables away from the area
and deactivate any mechanisms not required for motor-powered operation of the Vene-
tian blind.
• If the product is installed at a height of less than 2.5 m from the floor, or other
support surface, the automation moving parts must be protected with a suit-
able covering to avoid inadvertent access. To fit such a protection, refer to the
Venetian blind instruction manual, and ensure that access is guaranteed for
future maintenance operations.
• All possible crushing or shearing points which the automation may generate
when in motion must be prevented, or protected and made safe.
• During installation, handle the product with care, avoiding the risk of crushing,
impact, dropping or contact with any type of liquid; do not drill or insert
screws on the motor exterior and do not place the product in the vicinity of
heat sources or naked flames (fig. 1). This may damage the product and
cause malfunctions or hazardous situations. If this occurs, suspend installa-
tion immediately and contact the Nice Technical Assistance.
• Do not disassemble or modify the product in any way other than as envisaged
in this manual. The manufacturer declines all liability for damage caused by
makeshift modifications to the product.
• During system set-up, keep all persons far from the Venetian blind when mov-
ing.
• The product's packaging materials must be disposed of in full compliance
with local regulations.
1.2 - Operation and maintenance warnings
• This product is not designed to be used by persons (including children) whose
physical, sensorial or mental capacities are reduced, or with lack of experi-
ence or skill, unless suitable instructions regarding use of the product have
been provided by a person responsible for safety.
• Children should be supervised, to make sure, that they do not play with the
automation.
• Do not allow children to play with fixed control devices.
• The system needs to be checked at frequent intervals for bad balance, symp-
toms of wear or damaged cables and springs.
• Do not use the automation with people or objects close to the Venetian blind.
• Always keep a careful eye on the danger zones (close to the Venetian blind)
while using the automation.
• Do not use the automation if adjustments or repairs are required. In this case
always contact a specialised technician to solve the problem. Ensure that
damaged systems are deactivated or made unusable until repaired.
• Always ensure that the automation has been disconnected from the electricity
supply before proceeding with maintenance and/or cleaning.
• If the power supply cable is damaged, it must only be replaced with another
of the same type supplied by the motor's producer. To prevent all risks, the
cable must be replaced by the manufacturer or its after-sales service, or by a
person with similar qualifications.

INSTALLATION AND ELECTRICAL
3
CONNECTIONS
3.1 - Preliminary installation checks and product
application limits
Caution!
– Before proceeding with the installation check the following
aspects.
This product is available in different versions each one with a different motor torque.
As each version is designed for the automation of Venetian blinds of specific size and
weight; before proceeding with the installation refer to the "Guide to choosing the
product" present in the Nice product catalogue (www.niceforyou.com) to check if the
motor torque of this product is suitable for the automation of your Venetian blind.
Caution! -
The motor torque must not be greater than that required to move
the Venetian blind.
Further application limits are stated in the chapter "Technical Specifications of the
product".
The EraMec Q motor can be installed in a case at least 56 mm across on the
short side. The case may open at the top or bottom. Use Table A to check that
this EraMec Q is suitable for the opening position (top or bottom) of your case.
3.2 - Assembling the mechanical parts and
installing the motor
Caution! – Incorrect installation could cause serious physical injury. All
instructions must therefore be followed to the letter.
3.2.1 – Components for constructing a complete automation system
A number of components not included in this pack are required for construction
of a complete automation system. Some of these are optionals but others are
absolutely necessary. For a guideline view of the components, see fig. 2. To
purchase components, refer to the Nice products catalogue or the www.nice-
foryou.com website.
3.2.2 – Installing the motor in the case
To assemble the parts of the motor and install it in the case, refer to fig. 5 (a, b,
and c) if the case opens at the top, or fig. 6 (a, b and c) if the case opens at
the bottom.
Important – Before proceeding read the warnings below:
• The bottom limit switch position of the EraMec Q motor is pre-set in the fac-
tory. The motor must therefore be installed with the Venetian blind completely
unwound (extended).
• The motor must be placed in the case with the power supply cable on the left
(looking at the case from inside the room – see fig. 4).
• The Venetian blind cable must run up from the "outside" of the cable reel
(looking at the reel from inside the room – see fig. 4).
• The motor must be placed in the case so that the limit switch setting buttons
(black and white) and the safety button are facing downwards.
• The motor can be installed in cases mounted at angles of up to 45°. Here
again, the limit switch setting and safety buttons must be facing downwards.
• The motor and the cable reel drive shaft must be perfectly aligned with each
other.
• The motor power supply plug must be placed in a point which is still accessi-
ble after installation.
• If the motor is installed at a height of less than 2.5 m from the floor or another
supporting surface, the moving parts must be protected with a suitable cov-
ering to prevent accidental access. For guidance on constructing this guard,
refer to the Venetian blind instruction manual. Access must always be
ensured for future maintenance work.
3.3 - Installation of a push button panel
(optional accessory, not included in the package)
Important – Before installing the push button panel read the following
warnings:
• If the motor is operated with a "hold-to-run" button (with the contact normally
in "off" position), the button must be installed so that it is visible from the
Venetian blind, at least 1.50 m above the floor and well away from moving
parts.
• Fixed control devices must be installed in a visible position.
