13 Maintenance
Before removing the equipment cover casing, disconnect it from the mains.
Any repair or maintenance operation should be performed by personnel author-
ized by J.P. SELECTA s.a.u.
13.1 Basic maintenance operations
13.1.1 Cleaning:
To clean the different pieces in the equipment, we recommend the following
products:
To clean the camera and the stainless steel casing, use specialized cleaners for
stainless steel.
To clean plastics and covers: use alcohol with cotton or with a non-abrasive cloth.
13.2 Maintenance operations required by U.E. legislation
Regarding the law on pressure equipments:
- Directive 97/23/CE (European Union)
- RD pressure equipment regulations 244/1979 (Spain)
13.2.1 Annual reviews
Once a year the autoclave must undergo a review of its security elements. This
check must be performed by qualified personnel. Ask J.P. SELECTA, s.a.u. for a
list of authorized technical services.
Annually check the operation of the safety valve, pressure switch, level control
and pressure and temperature probes.
The maintenance staff should be awared that the autoclave, which is protected
by the casing and therefore not accessible to the operating personnel, may have
very hot parts and possible leakage of hot fluids and under pressure, so to access
this space the following precautions should be taken:
1. disconnect and cool the equipment as shown above.
2. use adequate protections.
3. do not to manipulate those unknown devices, especially manual valves, taps
or connections to the atmosphere, where a leakage could occur.
13.2.2 Periodic hydraulic tests (SPAIN)
After 10 years from the equipment installation, and with an annual review made
(see 12.2.1), the pressure vessel will be submitted to a hydraulic pressure test
in accordance with article 16 of the current regulations (1979).
The test will be performed by a pressure equipment installation company ac-
credited by the administration.
Official test report, in triplicate, will be risen, one for the user, the second for the
company which performed the test and the third one will be send to the Industry
department of the corresponding autonomous community.
