5.2
Testing a VDO-CP
Before the VDO-CP can be clamped on the EPS 708 /
EPS 815, it must first be tested for suitability:
R
Do not test a VDO-CP with faulty insulation
resistance:
Actuator
Insulation resistance [R] at 500 V
VCV
≥1 MΩ at test temperature of 70°C and relative
humidity of 25% to 75 %; test time 1 min
PCV
≥1 MΩ at room temperature and relative
humidity of 45% to 75 %
R
Check the pump drive shaft for freedom of
movement. Do not test a VDO-CP with a drive shaft
that is blocked or moves with difficulty.
R
Check pump housing for cracks. Do not test a VDO-
CP with cracks in the housing.
5.3
Clamping the VDO-CP
i
Clamping the VDO-CP on the EPS 708 is described
in the following. The same procedure applies to the
EPS 815.
!
Use only the specified clamping devices and drive
couplings for clamping the VDO-CP in position.
Clamping information for the VDO-CP can be found
in the "EPS945-VDO" software in the "Component
selection-General values" window (see online help).
5.3.1
VDO-CP with cone shaft connection
1. Slide the clamping bracket (optional accessory) or
clamping support onto the clamping rail of the EPS.
!
The radial shaft seal must not be oiled on a VDO-CP
for VW and a VDO-CP Type DV6. On all other VDO-
CP, the radial shaft seal must be oiled. Heed the
instructions of the manufacturer.
2. Lubricate the radial shaft seal on a VDO-CP with
15W-40 motor oil.
3. In the case of a VDO-CP with flange mounting,
fasten the VDO-CP at the clamping flange (see the
section 3.5.1).

4. Secure the VDO-CP to the clamping bracket (Fig. 19)
or clamping support (Fig. 20 and Fig. 21). Observe
the tightening torque.
i
When using clamping support 1 688 030 207, the
stud bolts must be screwed into the correct hole
pattern before the VDO-CP is secured in position
(see the section 3.5.2).
