• Avoid contact with the hot parts of the
appliance by the cord or your hands
(hotplate for cups, capsule holder, steam
nozzle).
• Never immerse the appliance in water.
• Keep out of reach of children and do not
allow the cord to hang down.
• Follow the descaling instructions.
• Do not use the machine if it has been
damaged or if the cord is in poor condition.
• If the cord or any other specific element
becomes defective, these must be replaced
only by an approved Krups service centre.
You should never under any circumstances
open the appliance yourself. See Service
Agent leaflet for details.
• Check that the capsule holder is firmly in
place before making coffee and reset the
selector to
before loosening the capsule
holder.
Accessories
For best results, the appliance is delivered with
a set of accessories:
• 2 espresso cups
• 2 varieties of Nespresso coffee (2 x 10
capsules)
• 1 special hexagonal key (for dismantling the
capsule holder)
• 1 cleaning needle
For further information on the different
varieties of coffee available, or to order
capsules, you should contact your Nespresso
Club.

Setting-up the appliance

• Press on the lid of the water tank (1).
• The handle folds automatically. Fill the tank
with water (2).
You can also remove the water tank by raising
the handle (3).
Maximum capacity
1.1 L = 18 cups of espresso.
• Replace the water tank and press down
firmly so that the lower valve opens. Close
the lid again (4).
For a good cup of coffee, it is recommended
that you observe the following points:
• Empty the water tank after use.
• Change the water daily.
• Do not use mineral water or distilled water.
• Clean the water tank at least once a week.
Before using your espresso
maker for the first time
• Plug in the appliance.
• Rinse the heating system thoroughly by
running through two tanks of fresh water
(without a capsule or capsule holder).
• Introduce the empty capsule holder into the
fixing ring: to do this, position the handle at
about 90° to the left then turn; once
positioned, the handle should be facing you
or very slightly offset to the left (5).
• Place a container, as large as possible, under
the capsule holder. The function selector
must be in position
• Engage the on/off switch.The operating
indicator light (red) and the thermostat
indicator light (yellow) will come on (7).
Once the yellow light goes out (which
means the machine is hot), set the function
selector to position
water to run through the empty capsule
holder (8).
Preparing an espresso
• Fill the water tank with fresh water; to
preheat the capsule holder, leave it in place
in the fixing ring (but empty, with no
capsule)
• Turn the function selector to
the appliance. Both indicator lights will come
on (9).
• Wait until the temperature indicator light
has gone out (yellow).
