CAUTION:
Avoid damage to the outboard. DO NOT attempt to
operate the outboard outside of the parameters set for
this motor. See list under General Specification. Any
failure or damage due to such operation is NOT covered
limited
under the Briggs & Stratton warranty.
WARNING
Use caution when installing the outboard to the
transom on the boat, severe amputation or
laceration may occur.
• DO NOT place your hands or feet between the
transom bracket and the boat transom when
installing or tilting the outboard.
• DO NOT wear loose fitting clothing, dangling
drawstrings or items which could become caught.
• Stop the motor and remove safety lanyard from
SAFETY/MOTOR STOP switch before tilting.
• DO NOT transport the boat with the outboard in the
UP position.
WARNING
Battery gas can explode.
• Keep sparks and flames away from batteries.
• Never place a metal object across battery posts. To
check for charge use a voltmeter or hydrometer.
• Use only Coast Guard Approved battery boxes
strapped firmly to your boat.
• Transport with batteries disconnected from out
board.
• Follow battery manufacturer's instructions and
heed warnings.
Electrocution or serious injury can occur if
proper precautions are not followed. Batteries
Moving Parts develop extremely high currents.
• Risk of Electrical Shock. DO NOT touch
un insulated battery terminals, connectors, or
wires.
Amputation
• Remove all jewelry (watches, rings, bracelets,
etc.) when working on the batteries or electrical
systems.
• Prior to wiring the batteries, ensure that the battery
harness is unplugged from the outboard.
• Use 6 gauge wire or larger for battery harness and
all wiring between batteries.
• The batteries must be wired in series to provide 48
volts. Improper wiring of batteries could cause
batteries to explode.
• Keep wire connections to the batteries tight,
maintaining good contact with the battery
terminals.
Manual
• Do not disassemble the motor. Voltage and output
have been pre set by the factory. Any tampering
with motor settings may cause serious damage to
the motor and/or serious injury.
Stop
The boat and all occupants may capsize if
motor is improperly installed or operated.
• When determining conformity to boat weight
limitations, take into account the weight of the
outboard AND battery pack.
• Capacity of boat should be sufficient to handle
weight of motor, batteries, occupants and occu
pants belongings.
• Follow the boat manufacturer's recommendations
to install the outboard to the boat.
• The capacity plate on the boat shows the maximum
horsepower allowable for your boat. DO NOT
exceed this limit.
• DO NOT operate the boat until the outboard has
been properly installed.
• DO NOT attempt to adjust the trim angle while the
outboard is running.
Use the safety lanyard to reduce the possibility
of a running boat causing serious injury or
death should the operator fall overboard.
• The safety lanyard clip MUST be properly
connected to the SAFETY/MOTOR STOP switch
on the outboard AND safety lanyard snap must be
attached to the operator BEFORE using the
outboard.
• Check the function of the SAFETY/MOTOR STOP
switch before each boating day by starting the
outboard and removing the safety lanyard from the
switch. The outboard should then stop operation.
• DO NOT leave the operator's station with the safety
lanyard still connected to the outboard.
• Always stop the outboard before leaving the
operator's station of the boat.
