Connect KTS 520/550, as shown in Fig. 4, to
PC/test system and vehicle.
The KTS 520/550 consists of a plastic casing and
it can be fastened using Velcro strip (delivery
specification) e. g. to a test system's (Fig. 3).
The supply voltage is established with the
power pack (Fig. 4, Pos. 8), which is part of
the delivery specification. The voltage supply
for the KTS 520/550 can also be set up via the
OBD interface of the vehicle.

In test steps, in which it is necessary to start the
engine, the battery voltage may drop to such
an extent that a supply via the vehicle can no
longer be guaranteed. We therefore recom-
mend that the KTS 520/550 should always be
operated using a power pack.

Under certain circumstances on some vehicles,
in contrast to the standard,the supply voltage is
not applied via the OBD interface on the KTS
520/550 until the ignition is switched on.
Connection to the diagnosis interface on the
vehicle is done using the OBD-interchangeable
adapter cable (Fig. 4, Pos. 3) or using the 6-pin
UNI connecting cable (Fig. 4, Pos. 2) and the
CARB adapter box .

Make sure that the diagnostic cable on the
KTS 520/550 is plugged in correctly. If incor-
rectly plugged in the pins on the male connec-
tor may be broken off.
For URI measurements the colored test leads
and ground cable are connected to the cor-
responding socket (CH 1; CH2 and ground)
(Fig. 4, Pos. 4).
The serial connecting cable (Fig. 4, Pos. 6;
delivery specification) is used to connect the
KTS 520/550 with a serial interface on the PC
test system.
On the Windows operating systems WIN 2000,
WIN 98-SE, WIN ME and WIN XP you can
also connect the KTS 520/550 using the USB
interface on the PC test system (Fig. 4, Pos. 7;
delivery specification).
