Framing Construction (cont.)
NOTE: The receptor basin area requires no additional support when the subfloor is plumb and level with
respect to the stud framing. If the subfloor is not level, shimming may be required to level the unit. Make
sure the floor offers adequate support as required by local building codes.
Cut a 10-1/2" (26.7 cm) diameter hole, centered around the drain location.
Check if the subfloor is flat and level.
The receptor supports must rest directly on a level subfloor. The following steps may be used to
level an irregular floor:
• Build a dam that will keep the flooring material in the desired location.
• Spread and level a layer of concrete or mortar on the subfloor where the receptor supports will be
located.
• Allow the material to cure.
• Remove any dams.
IMPORTANT! Squeaking may develop if the receptor is installed over a subfloor other than plywood. In
order to prevent squeaking place a pad between the receptor and the subfloor. The recommended pad
material is a spun bonded polyester landscape fabric, or spun bonded house wrap material. Do not use
roofing felt for this purpose.
