Table. 1 - Fault list
Fault
Cause
Pilot burner nozzle dirty
Air in gas pipes
No discharge between elec-
After several lighting attempts, the elec-
trodes
tronic controller shuts down the boiler
Faulty gas valve
Electric mains trouble
Electric mains trouble
Wiring fault
The boiler does not start
No gas
Fume thermostat activation
Room thermostat open
Gas pressure too low
Gas nozzles dirty or wrong
The burner burns poorly:
flames too high, too low or too yellow
Poor ventilation
Boiler dirty
Poor flue draught
Smell of unburnt gas
Incorrect excess flame
adjustment
Incorrect control thermostat
setting
Incorrect flame adjustment
The boiler works but the temperature
Boiler dirty
fails to increase
Boiler inefficient
No water circulation in the
system
Incorrect thermostat setting
Temperature of water towards the sys-
tem too high
Incorrect thermostat posi-
tioning
Excess gas
Boiler dirty
Explosion at burner
Ignition delays
Burner dirty
Wrong nozzles
Incorrect thermostat setting
The boiler produces condensation
water
Insufficient gas consumption Make sure gas consumption is regular
The boiler shuts down for no apparent
Fume thermostat activation
reason
Cure
Clean the nozzle with compressed air
Check the regular gas flow to the boiler
and that the air has been eliminated
from the pipes
Make sure the electrodes are correctly
positioned, integral, free of any depos-
its and that the spark is regular (see
fig. 10)
Check the electrical connections at the
ignition and ionisation electrodes
Replace the valve
Make sure the boiler is connected to
the mains rated voltage and to an effi-
cient earth connection
Make sure the LINE and NEUTRAL are
not inverted and that the earth contacts
are efficient
Check the connections to the electronic
flame controller
Check the inlet gas pressure and any
open gas pressure switches
Reset the fume thermostat
Make sure the room thermostat is
closed in call
Check the gas supply pressure
Check the nozzles and clean if neces-
sary
Make sure the ventilation in the room
where the unit is located is sufficient for
proper combustion
Check and clean the boiler shell
Check the efficiency of the flue draught
Make sure the gas consumption is not
excessive (gas pressure switch nozzles
or diameter)
Check correct operation of the control
thermostat
Make sure gas consumption is not less
than that provided for
Make sure the boiler is perfectly clean
Make sure the boiler is adequate for the
system
Make sure the heating pump is not
blocked and that the plumbing circuit is
not dirty
Check operation of the control thermo-
stat
Check the bulb position
Check the main burner gas pressure
Check and clean the boiler shell
Check and clean the burner
Check the nozzles
Make sure the boiler is not operating at
too low temperatures (below 40°C)
Check for any obstructions in the flue
and manually reset the fume thermostat
