COMPONENT INSPECTION

Pawls (Reel and Drive Head)
Check for wear on pawl tips, free of rust, and pawls move
easily.
Pawl Springs
Check for kinks in the spring.
Cable
Check for cuts, abrasion, burn marks and inspect for broken
filaments.
Emergency Drive
Check to see if this has been engaged.
Friction Disks
Check for scratches
Gears
Check for wear on the teeth.
Clean pinion gear teeth of excessive dirt and grease.
Housing
Check for cracks in housing.
Labels
Ensure all labels are present and legible.
Snaphook
Operates properly and free of rust.
Sperrad
Check for wear on the contact points with pawl tips.
Brake Plates (Drive Head Assembly)
Check for wear.
RE SSEMBLY
Sperrad Assembly
1. Install ratchet gear shaft
and turn counter-
clockwise to tighten.
INSPECTION AND REASSEMBLY

2. Drill hole with 3/16" drill bit and tap in roll pin.
3. Insert crush washer and sperrad (facing as shown). Tighten
down sperrad so it's just snug. Do not over tighten the
sperrad.
Housing Bearing Assembly
1. Ream bearing holes on
both sides of housing.
2. Insert bearing spacer using bearing spacer insert tool.
