7.2 - Cleaning and Disinfection
7.2.1 - Non-removable components
Plastic parts, upholstery, painted parts, operating lights must be
cleaned with a damp cloth containing only neutral detergent, such as the
neutral detergent Prolystica
diluted according to the manufacturer's instructions until all the dirt visible
is removed.
Disinfection can be carried out with a clean cloth dipped in 0.52%
hydrogen peroxide, such as OXIVIR TB EPA Reg. No. 70627-56.
The cleaning and disinfection must be performed before each patient.
The cleaning and disinfection process must always take place before daily operations and after
each patient, as well as purging the water and air lines for at least 30 seconds for each pneumatic
coupling used during treatment.
7.2.2 - Removable Components
Before performing the removable component cleaning procedure, note that the removable items
from the water unit, the headrest, the cardiac monitor connector, the electric micromotor, and the
polycarbonate cover of the operating light have special cleaning and disinfection conditions, as
described in this chapter.
a) Always use distilled water for this procedure;
b) If the water is heated, to facilitate this cleaning step, the temperature must be between 30º C and 40º C;
c) Use neutral detergent, such as the neutral detergent Prolystica
out as recommended by the manufacturer;
d) Immerse the entire component in a detergent solution, keeping the solution in contact with the component
for at least 3 minutes;
For headrest, cardiac monitor connector, electric micromotor and polycarbonate cover of the
operating light, apply the solution with a soft sponge or cloth covering the entire surface.
e) Rub the outer surface of each component with a soft sponge, at least 5 times, from the proximal to the
distal direction. Repeat this procedure until the visible dirt is removed, making sure that all the recesses
are washed;
f) Rub the inner surface of each lumen with a soft brush, adjusted to the size of the lumen, at least 5 times,
from the proximal to the distal direction. Repeat the procedure until the visible dirt is removed;
g) Always use brushes with natural or nylon bristles;
h) Never use steel wool or sponges steel and/or abrasive products, as this may damage the equipment
components;
i) Do not accumulate the components in large quantities, one over the other, to avoid deformation of the
smaller and delicate parts and do not scratch the polished surfaces. Handle only one part at a time;
j) Rinse the component under running water for at least 1 minute;
For the headrest, cardiac monitor connector, electric micromotor, and polycarbonate cover of the
operating light use a sponge cloth or sponge to remove all surface detergent.
k) Apply spray covering the entire surface of the component with a 0.52% hydrogen peroxide solution such
as OXIVIR TB and let it act for 5 minutes;
l) Rinse the component under running water for at least 1 minute;
For the headrest, cardiac monitor connector, electric micromotor and polycarbonate cover of the
operating light, use a sponge or cloth to remove all surface detergent.
m) Dry the component with a soft, clean cloth.
