Pressure relief valve
At the inlet of the device there is a slide valve (Fig. 5 + 6) for
pressure relief. This is necessary, for example, if a measurement is to
be repeated on the same cylinder. The device does not need to be
decoupled for this second measurement.
16-piece injector connection adapter set.
Using the set of connection adapters for injectors (Fig. 7), access
to the combustion chamber is ensured through the hole in the
injector nozzle. The original injector is needed as a template for the
configuration (Fig. 8). Use the specific copper gasket to seal and
fix the adapter with the help of the original clamp or one of the 3
crosspieces supplied.
17-piece glow plug adapter set.
Using the glow plug adapter set (Fig. 9), access to the combustion
chamber is ensured through the glow plug hole. The original glow
plug helps you select the correct glow plug adapter (Fig. 10). Align
both the thread and the lengths.
Interpreting test results
Take note of the information provided by the vehicle
manufacturer!
•
If the valves and piston seal are in good condition, the
pressure rises to its maximum value immediately after start-up.
•
If all cylinders have been checked according to the
manufacturer's specifications, the compression difference
should not exceed 10%
•
If there is no compression on a cylinder, the piston must be
checked for damage.
Note: If the combustion temperature is too high,
e.g. uncontrolled combustion, it can damage the
piston.
•
If the value on two adjacent cylinders is lower than that of the
other cylinders, this indicates that a cylinder head gasket is
defective in the separation zone between the two cylinders.
In this case it is also necessary to check the presence of
residual water and/or oil in emulsion in the water radiator
and engine oil casing.
•
If the compression on a cylinder is lower than specified by the
manufacturer, add some oil to the combustion chamber and
recheck the compression. If a significantly higher compression
is measured, this indicates worn piston rings. If the
compression does not change, a valve could be damaged or
the camshaft could be faulty.
•
If the measured compression for all cylinders is uniformly
