Electrical Safety

The wires in this product are coloured:
Blue Neutral
Brown Live
Green & Yellow Earth
• This appliance must be protected by a suitable fuse.
• To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this product to rain, water
or moisture.
• There are no user serviceable parts inside except those referred to in
this manual.
• Always refer servicing to qualified service personnel. Never remove any
part of the casing unless qualified to do so; this unit contains dangerous
voltages.
• Use of a residual current device will reduce the risk of electric shock.
Dangerous environment
• Do not use power tools in damp or wet conditions, or expose them to
rain. Provide adequate surrounding work space and keep area well lit.
Do not use power tools where there is a risk of explosion or fire from
combustible material, flammable liquids, flammable gases, or dust of
an explosive nature. When using power tools avoid contact with any
earthed items such as pipes, radiators, cookers, refrigerators, metal
baths and taps.
Protect yourself from vibration
• Hand held power tools may produce vibration. Vibration can cause
disease. Gloves to keep the operator warm may help to maintain good
blood circulation in the fingers. Hand held tools should not be used for
long periods without a break.
Maintain your power tool
• Ensure all ventilation holes are kept clear at all times. Overheating and
fire may otherwise result.
Always Disconnect
• Before changing fittings or accessories, always ensure that your tool is
disconnected from the power source.
Switch off before connecting
• Ensure that the power tool is switched off before connecting to the power
source. If the power tool stops unexpectedly, turn the power switch to off.
Do not abuse the power cord
• Be sure your cable or extension cable is in good condition. Always have
a damaged cable or extension cable replaced at an authorised service
centre before using it. Never pull the cable to disconnect it from the
power socket. Never carry your tool by its cable. Keep the cable away
from damp, heat, oil, solvents, and sharp edges.
Do not leave the tool running unattended
• Always wait until your tool has completely stopped functioning, and has
been unplugged, before leaving it.
Use the battery charger correctly
• Refer to the section of this manual relating to use of the battery charger
before attempting to charge the battery.
• Do not attempt to use the charger with any batteries other than those
supplied. Keep your battery charger clean; foreign objects or dirt may
cause a short or block air vents. Failure to follow these instructions may
cause overheating or fire.

Re-charging the battery
• Only charge the battery using the charger provided.
Safety when using your drill
• When using cable reels, run all the cable off the reel. Minimum conductor
cross section: 1.0mm 2 .
• When using the electric hammer drill outdoors, connect to the power
supply with an RCD device and minimum 1.5mm
water protected plugs in proper working order.
• Make sure of your footing on ladders and scaffolding when drilling
free-handed.
• Use metal and voltage detectors to locate concealed electric, water or
gas lines. Avoid touching live components or conductors.
• Wear ear muffs to protect your hearing. Loss of hearing can be a gradual
process.
• Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.
• Wear a dust mask on jobs generating dust. Dust from materials such as
coatings containing lead, some wood types, minerals and metal can be
harmful to health; wear a P2 filter class respirator.
• Do not use in areas where there are vapours or flammable liquids.
• Always pull the plug out of the socket before cleaning or making changes
to the machine.
• Protect the power cable from damage. Oil and acid can damage the
cable.
• Never overload the machine. Secure all workpieces sufficiently.
• Important! It is imperative to follow all national safety regulations
concerning installation, operation and maintenance.
• Before starting work, always check that the chisel or drill bit is properly
locked in the chuck. Chisel bits and drill bits may be flung out of the
machine accidentally and cause serious injury.
• Examine the chuck regularly for signs of wear or damage.
• Never start up a hammer tool until it pressed against a work piece (wall,
ceiling etc).
• Always wait until the drill has come to a complete stop before putting
it down.
• When you are finished, unplug the hammer drill from the electric supply
and remove the chisel or drill bit from the machine.
• Always disconnect the hammer drill from the electric supply before you
change a chisel or drill bit.
• Wear work gloves to protect fingers from bruising and grazing.
• Vibration can injure the hand-arm system. Keep exposure to vibration as
short as possible.
• Store the device where it is inaccessible to children.
• When carrying out work, always hold the device with both hands and
ensure that you have a stable standing position.

Battery charger

• Recharge only with the charger supplied. This is designed for the lithium-
ion battery in your machine.
• The Li-Ion battery is protected against deep discharging by electronic
cell protection which switches the machine off by means of a protective
circuit.
• Only use the battery charger indoors.
• The battery has a temperature control which allows charging only within
a temperature range of 0°C to 45°C.
• Never modify the charger or plug in any way.
