DESCRIPTION
Leviton Surge Protective Device (SPD) module, Cat. No. 3880-DIN is intended for use with sensitive electronic equipment, such as computers,
electronic analysis and monitoring equipment and other appliances with solid state circuitry that would benefit from protection against damage
caused by transient surges.
FEATURES
• ANSI/UL 1449 Type 4 recognized.
• Three modes of protection (L-N, L-G, N-G).
• EMI/RFI filter for interference.
• Fits most standard din rails (see Fig. 2).
• Terminal block will accept 18-12 AWG.
• This device is intended for single branch circuits only.
• The indicator light denotes surge suppression is effective when it is continuously ON.
• This device does not supply ground fault or overload protection.
• This device protects against surges at this module only.
• 3880-DIN has an audible tone alarm. If transient protection is lost, the alarm will sound and the green LED indicator will go out. The alarm tone can be
silenced by removing the protective alarm label and turning the small screw located on the face of the unit counter-clockwise.
• Power continues to be supplied to the receptacle in the event of a surge suppression circuit failure.
• Module should be replaced as soon as possible, after a failure is noted. If the unit is not replaced, it will only function as a conventional receptacle within
its given rating.
Solid state semi-conductor SPD circuitry for:
• 3880-DIN (Line to Neutral, Line to Ground and Neutral to Ground protection).
• SPD is enclosed in a non-conductive polycarbonate case with flame retardant UL94V-2 rating, compliant to UL 746B material test requirement.
• SPD is intended to supply 120 VAC to plug-in equipment.
TO INSTALL
Location and Mounting:
WARNING:
1. TURN OFF POWER AT THE INSTALLATION LOCATION.
2. Locate the SPD so that its hard-wired or plug-in connections can be easily connected to AC Power without excessive tension on the wiring connections.
3. Utilizing the DIN Rail clip mount the module directly to a standard or low profile 35mm symmetrical "hat" or 32mm asymmetrical din rail (see Fig. 2).
NOTE: SPD may be readily removed from the rails by lifting the disconnect tabs.
4. Connection of the SPD to chassis ground may be done via the wiring terminals (see Fig. 1).
Wiring Procedure:
WARNING:
TURN OFF EQUIPMENT POWER AT THE SPD INSTALLATION LOCATION.
NOTE: Power cabling used for 3880-DIN connections should be the same as that used to connect the equipment where protection is desired.
1. Ensure that POWER IS OFF.
2. Connect GROUND WIRE (green) to the SPD as labeled (see Fig.1).
3. Connect NEUTRAL WIRE (white) then HOT WIRE (black) to the SPD as labeled (see Fig.1). INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE.

Leviton warrants to the original consumer purchaser and not for the benefit of anyone else that this product at the time of its sale by Leviton is free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal and
proper use for ten years from the purchase date. Leviton's only obligation is to correct such defects by repair or replacement, at its option, if within such ten year period the product is returned prepaid, with proof
of purchase date, and a description of the problem to Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc., Att: Quality Assurance Department, 201 North Service Road, Melville, New York 11747. This warranty excludes
and there is disclaimed liability for labor for removal of this product or reinstallation. This warranty is void if this product is installed improperly or in an improper environment, overloaded, misused, opened,
abused, or altered in any manner, or is not used under normal operating conditions or not in accordance with any labels or instructions. There are no other or implied warranties of any kind, including
merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, but if any implied warranty is required by the applicable jurisdiction, the duration of any such implied warranty, including merchantability and fitness for
a particular purpose, is limited to ten years. Leviton is not liable for incidental, indirect, special, or consequential damages, including without limitation, damage to, or loss of use of, any equipment,
lost sales or profits or delay or failure to perform this warranty obligation. The remedies provided herein are the exclusive remedies under this warranty, whether based on contract, tort or otherwise.
