Installation
The fitting/removal is illustrated using the basic carrier bar at the front
of the GLA by way of example. Fitting/removal of the rear basic carrier
bar on the GLA and fitting/removal of the basic carrier bars on the
C-Class, E-Class and GLC are carried out in the same way.
Fitting the front basic carrier bar
Fit/remove the basic carrier bars with the help of a second person.
1. Unlock cover caps (8) on both sides with key (4) and fold them up.
2. Pull quick-tightening device (9) in the direction of the arrow and turn
anti-clockwise as far as it will go.
3. Place the front basic carrier bar (1) on the roof rails.
4. Using tape measure (5) measure the distance (X) between the end
strip of the windscreen and the centre of quick-release device (9).
5. Position basic carrier bar (1) at distance (X).

Important
Make sure that clamping claw (10) and support (11) are positively
positioned on the roof rail.
6. Turn quick-tightening device (9) clockwise until you hear it engage in
position.
7. Push quick-tightening device (9) in the opposite direction to the
arrow and engage it in position.
8. Fold down cover caps (8) on both sides and lock them with key (4).
If cover cap (8) cannot be closed, slightly turn quick-tightening
device (9).
