2. Use the flat brush to clean piston (1).
3. Use the thick round brush to clean the piston guide (inside) (2).
4. Use the thin round brush to clean cartridge chamber (3).
5. Use the flat brush to clean the piston guide (outside) (4).
▶ Oil the piston guide (outside) with Hilti spray.
6. Use the flat brush to clean the base plate (inside) (5) and use the thick round to clean the thread (outside)
(6).
7. Use the thin round brush to clean the through-bore for the piston (7).
8. Use the flat brush to clean the fastener guide (outside) (8).
▶ Oil the fastener guide (outside) with Hilti spray.
9. Use the thick round brush to clean internal thread (9) of the base-plate mount.
▶ Oil the internal thread of the base-plate mount with Hilti spray.
8.3.5 Replacing jammed stop ring
If piston guide and piston jam on disassembly, the deformed stop ring might have become jammed on the
piston.
1. Disassemble the fastening tool to the point at which you can remove the piston guide.
2. Insert the rod through the cartridge chamber and use the rod to push the piston out of the piston guide.
3. Remove the friction ring and pull the stop ring off the piston.
4. Replace the stop ring and the stop ring.
8.3.6 Final check of the fastening tool
▶ After carrying out care and maintenance, check that all protective and safety devices are fitted and that
they function faultlessly.
9 Troubleshooting
WARNING! Risk of injury! Before you start troubleshooting, make sure there are no cartridges in the
fastening tool. If the cartridges cannot be removed, contact Hilti Service
If the trouble you are experiencing is not listed in this table or you are unable to rectify the problem by
yourself, please contact Hilti Service.

▶ Unload the fastening tool.

▶ Remove the cartridge strip and
insert a new strip.
▶ Contact Hilti Service.
▶ Allow the fastening tool to cool
and then carefully try to remove
the cartridge strip. Remove the
piston guide from the fastening
tool. If the cartridge sleeve
is jammed in the cartridge
chamber, use the round rod to
remove it. If the cartridge sleeve
remains jammed, contact Hilti
Service. Do not attempt to
forcibly remove cartridges from
the magazine strip.
