Preliminary remark
For a better understanding, the „Gui-
ded fall arrester on a rigid anchor line"
is replaced in the following by the
familiar term „Climbing protection
system" from the past, the „Guided
fall arrester" is the „Fall arrest slider".
Important operating instructions
1. You must read this manual in order to
be able to guarantee the operating safety
of the equipment and that it will be used
correctly before using our FABA™ fall
arrest sliders. Every user must have
understood the content and must strictly
adhere to the instructions given in the
manual.
2. This manual must be kept in a good
state and made available to all users
until the equipment is decommissioned.
Additional copies are available upon
request.
3. You must ensure that the labelling
on the fall arrest slider can always be
read easily. The fall arrest slider must
be permanently decommissioned if
the details become illegible or they are
erased.
4. The fall arrest slider is an integral fall
arrest system designed in accordance
with EN 363 and is solely to be used in
conjunction with other components that
interconnect together and are compatible
with the fall arrest slider and also fulfi ll the
valid safety regulations and standards. It
is vital that you adhere to the instructions
given in this manual and those for any
other products that have to be used when
connecting up the various parts of the
equipment that makes up the fall arrest
system.
5. Only one person is allowed to use the
FABA™ fall arrest slider at any time. In
doing so, the weight of the user must not
fall below the minimum nominal load and
the weight of the user including tools and
equipment must not exceed the maximum
nominal load. Each user must undergo
practical training before using the
equipment, which should cover setting
up and the use of the fall arrest slider as
part of a complete system under normal
working and safety conditions. The object
of the training is to teach the user what to
do if he falls, in addition to normal rescue
operations.
6. Each FABA™ fall arrest slider is to
be used solely with the associated rail
profi les that are specifi ed in this manual.
Disregarding these requirements might
well endanger the user's life and Tractel
will not accept liability if our FABA™
fall arrest slider is used in any other
way than that stipulated in the climbing
protection profi le.
7. Only use the FABA slider if it is in
perfect condition. The slider must be
inspected every time prior to use, and a
manual function check in the climbing
protection rail must be carried out. Every
fall arrest slider must be immediately
put out of operation and sent to Tractel
Greifzug GmbH or a qualifi ed person
trained and certifi ed by Tractel if it is
damaged or not functional, or if there is
doubt about whether it can be used safely.
8. Any fall arrest slider that has held
someone who has fallen must be
withdrawn immediately from use and
returned to Tractel Greifzug GmbH or a
qualifi ed person trained and certifi ed by
Tractel for testing. The climbing protec-
tion system can only be used again after
a fall if a qualifi ed person trained and
certified by Tractel has given written
permission for it to be used again.
