Getting started

You can start measuring as soon as you have
completed the following steps:
Remove the shipping clamp
Insert the drive unit into the MarSurf PS 10
(see  in Section 4)
Set the measuring conditions
Calibrate the probe
Removing the shipping clamp
You must remove the red shipping clamp
i
before using the MarSurf PS 10 (see in-
formation sheet 3763316)!
Make sure you keep the shipping clamp
in a safe place!
In the event that you need to return the
instrument, the shipping clamp must be
put into place again.
Switching on the MarSurf PS 10
Press the green Start key.

Performing the basic settings
1.
In the "Congratulations" dialog:
Tap the > button to set the language
(
), followed by the date and time.
Select the unit of measurement "mm"
or "inch".
Tap OK.
The menu appears. Tap OK again to
display the basic view.
Setting the measuring conditions
1.
In the basic view tap
conditions option in the menu).
2.
Tap
again and set the relevant meas ur-
ing conditions.
For details about the measuring conditions,
please see Section 5.

Tap OK. Tap OK again.

Calibrating the probe
1.
Using your finger nail, lift and remove the
standard (11) on the bottom of the MarSurf
PS 10 (see figure 1).
2.
Read off the Rz nominal value from the
standard.
3.
Place the MarSurf PS 10 on its vee-block
base so that the stylus tip is vertical.
4.
Position the standard in such a way that the
entire traversing length is within the field
with the defined roughness (see figure 3).
The traversing length will be
i
calculated automatically in accord-
ance with DIN EN ISO 4288 or
ASME B46. 1 depending on the
nominal value (see "MarSurf. Sur-
face Parameters" fold-out card pro-
vided). Half a pre-travel and post-
travel is added to this.
5.
Set the height adjuster (7) on the MarSurf
PS 10 to the required height:
for the PHT 6-350 standard probe to
for other probes as required.
The probe must be parallel to the standard.
6.
In the basic view tap the
(or Calibrate in the menu).
7.
Select the calibration method.
Always select "Calibrate Rz" when using the
standard provided.
8.
Enter the nominal value for the standard in
the "Nominal value" field.
9.
Tap the Start calibration button.
Three measurements will be performed
auto matically.
10. After the third measurement a correction
value will be calculated from the three
meas ured values (Rz, Ra or RSm).
